ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader Abdul Quader Molla was innocent and charges against him were false,Radio Pakistanreported.

The PTI Chairman said that a lawyer of the international human rights organisation Reprieve, who was defending Molla, told him that the JI leader was innocent and had nothing to do with the charges against him.

He was speaking in the National Assembly on Monday.

The tragedy of fall of Dhaka gives us the lesson that issues should be handled democratically, not through military operations, Imran said.

The National Assembly also adopted a resolution on Monday expressing concern over the hanging of Molla, a senior leader of the Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh for his “loyalty to Pakistan”.

The resolution was moved by Sher Akbar Khan of Jamaat-e-Islami. The resolution also expresses condolences with Bangladesh and the family of Molla.

The house demanded that the Bangladesh government should not resurrect issues of 1971 and end all cases against the JI Bangladesh leadership in the spirit of understanding.

We witnessed the fall of Dhaka 42 years ago and we seem to have not learnt our lesson, said Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.

Speaking on a point of order, the interior minister said that people still react in a violent manner, do not respect others and despite tall claims about democracy our attitudes are still undemocratic.

He further added that we should carry out self analysis to determine what we achieved and lost since the fall of Dhaka.

Nisar said the government would support the JI resolution on the issue.

PPP leader Abdul Sattar Bachani said the execution of the JI leader was an internal matter of Bangladesh and Pakistan should not interfere in the internal matters of an independent and sovereign country.

MQM leader Abdul Waseem said we should learn from the tragedy of 1971 and ruminate how to avoid national tragedies in future.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Awami National Party (ANP) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) did not sign the resolution.

PTI leader Makhdom Javed Hashmi, Chief of Awami Muslim League Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid leader Raza Hayat Hiraj and Maulana Ameer Zaman of Jamiat-e-Ulma-Islam-Fazl claimed Molla was executed because of his loyalty with Pakistan.

International petition is needed. Should open a page on Change.org

Who expected the resurrection of a dead man, it was meant to spread the awareness of the situation and injustice going on here/
The people who need to know(the US and UN) already know....international people won't be able to help us...we have to do whatever we need to do ourselves!

No we can not help ourselves, it did not happen in our history, we can not get shot to help ourselves, even India involved in 71, we need intervention/pressure against this govt.

Pakistan playing political games?

How can Molla be INNOCENT. you can argue about whether he deserved capital punshment or not. Termin him innocent means all charges on Molla were FALSE? U mean, Bangladeshi courts execute people on false charges? Not able to get this statement by Pakistan especially when someone has been executed for his crimes.

Kangaroo courts ordered his death sentence. Such type of decisions and such type of courts don't hold any value.

Kangaroo Court? Enlighten plz how were they one such? Whether the judge was a kangaroo or judge was some uneducated person without a law degree and experience or something else.

WHy do one call them KC?

This was a process that was pre determined, it used as a political tool to cling on to power. As many of you know there has been a UN delegation trying to make sure that an agreement has been reached for two main parties so that there is a proper election. The statements have been that this execution will derail this election, this was most likely the intention of Shiekh Hasina. Her intention was to create chaos or state of emergency.

The government is now under the watchful eye of the international community, particularly the international prosecutor to the criminal court. I can say today, that once again, this is judicial murder, this is not a process aimed at justice, accountability or reconciliation.

It would have been better if the judge was kangaroo. Might be some better decision would have came out of it.

HRW, UN and every other human rights organization raised questions about tribunal, its fairness and on the whole judicial process. According to HRW:

(New York) – The death sentence against Abdul Qader Mollah, a leader of the Jamaat-e-Islami party convicted of war crimes during Bangladesh’s 1971 war of independence, should immediately be stayed due to fair trial concerns, Human Rights Watch said today. Mollah should be granted a right to appeal against the conviction and death sentence.

If there are those members of the government who have directly interfered int his that have causes witnesses to purger themselves that have conspired to pervert the course of justice, that is an criminal offence.

If the BNP come to power next year, they will ensure that this is a internationally supervised process.

We already know what the country wants, it wants BNP, no one cares what a few retards say on this forum and that has been proved already.

Just because a few rich daughters and sons with their 'cool' slick hairstyle came into shahbagh doesn't mean nothing.

What I am so surprised about that when they were in shah bag, not one person refuted the insults of our nabi paak rasoolullah? Why? Because they're blatantly not Muslims. I am not trying to do takfeer, but I am saying that these people are nastik by default and not born Muslims.

Dude. Dont be naive. Those organizations have asked to halt executions coz they are overall against capital punishment irrespective of crime. Human Rights people will always oppose execution no matter if the accused has killed 100 people at a time. Thats their nature.

Said that, how was Molla innocent? Did Bangladesh courts frame false charges against him?
