ISLAMABAD - Condemning the breach of sovereignty of Pakistan by the US a marathon session of in-camera briefing to joint sitting of the Parliament adopted a unanimous resolution recommending establishment of an independent commission to hold inquiry into the Abbottabad debacle and fix responsibility of intelligence and security failures.
Although no details on the composition of the commission were announced but it was said that Prime Minister would consult the Leader of the Opposition and other major stakeholders in the Parliament on constitution of the independent commission to probe the incident.
Condemning the US clandestine operation in Abbottabad the resolution further recommended to revisit country’s relations with United States and also to restructure country’s security apparatus to avoid such a fiasco in future.
The resolution also recommended revisiting of the country’s role in war on terror and gave a number of recommendations to revamp it in the larger interest of the country.
The resolution also expressed complete solidarity with the Armed Forces of the country and it was pledged that the national security and territorial integrity of the country would be upheld at all costs and Abbottabad-like incursion from any state would not be tolerated. It was further said that in case America would not stop drone attacks then at first place the NATO supplies from Pakistan would be stopped forthwith.
Resolution further demanded immediate halt to the drone attacks and in this connection made it clear that no latitude would be given.
The resolution also adopted the main points of the joint resolution adopted by the joint sitting of the Parliament on Oct 24, 2008 and suggested that a complete overhaul of the country’s current policy on war on terror would be made in due course of time.
Parliament had put its weight behind the Armed Forces of the country and in a marathon session, which stretched well over 10 hours and also entered in next date some 145 MPs had put questions to the military leadership.
Talking to media persons after the briefing Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Ch Nisar Ali Khan said that it was the consensus view of the MPs that a unanimous and positive response to the whole world should go from the Parliament on the issue to bring the nation out of shock.

This is great that the country is united. I respect the resolution for the sovreignity of Pakistan, but Pakistan has to make sure that other Al-Qaeda/wanted operatives on Pakistani territory are nuetralized. Time has come to control law and order for the benefit of the average citizen and in the greater interest of Pakistan.

Yeah Good way of Politicians to keep people fooling once again. Where was this fishing parliment when our innocent people were and are dying of American drone attacks .Those american bastards are killing innocent civilians .

Good Work Keep passing the resolutions and do nothing thats the best what u can do .Where is our honor where is our sovereignty where is our patriotism.

really this is a point our Politicians choose to Unite after a long time and after great many Sacrifices of our Citizen Brothers

another drone attack and BOOOM1!!!

They should now put this WOT issue to a public refferendum so that it is decided to pull out of the WOT by the pakistani public thus legitimizing Pakistani requests to withdraw from the war and stop NATO supply routes to the world community. UN would have to respect the democratic right of the people of the country obviously and no more border incursions will take place, will be seen as a breach of UN protocols. Also the pressure will be taken off the government to make this decisive call as they clearly are not capable of handling the pressure.

They should organise it this month at the earliest and make it operationally effective. That would be stage 1 completed for the rehabilitation.
