Could you post a pic of the IAF GUARUD on the IAF float? Seemed he was also sporting a TAR-21, so rumours about GUARUDs having Tavors seems to be correct.

Another story of bravery by an Indian soldier... RIP braveheart.... Lieutenant Navdeep Singh, who displayed his indomitable spirit, determination and exceptional bravery while putting down the terrorists and making the supreme sacrifice for the nation, on Thursday conferred with the highest gallantry award.

The story of Lieutenant Navdeep Singh:

On receiving information about the infiltration of a group of terrorists at about 0030 hours on 20 August 2011, Lieutenant Navdeep Singh gauged the likely route of the terrorists and laid an ambush at the appropriate spot. When the terrorists were spotted, the ambush was sprung by the officer himself. An exchange of intense fire ensued.

Leading from the front, the officer eliminated three terrorists at close range. On seeing another terrorist approaching their position, with utter disregard to his personal safety, the officer swiftly changed his firing position. While doing so, he got hit by a bullet on his head. He nevertheless managed to eliminate the fourth terrorist. Further, displaying utmost bravery and comradeship, he pulled an injured fellow-soldier to safety and kept firing till he became unconscious due to excessive blood loss.

The President, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil conferred the Ashoka Chakra on Lieutenant Navdeep Singh (Posthumous) of the Army Ordnance Corps / 15th Battalion, The Maratha Light Infantry, at the beginning of the 63rd Republic day celebrations, in New Delhi on January 26, 2012. The Award was received by his father Subedar Major, Honorary Lieutenant (Retd.) Joginder Singh.

Just tell me this thing-
what is the significance of this in a military parade?-
what it means?-
why?-
it looks stupid- better suited in a circus-

Its just an old tradition and they try and add some fun to the military parade.

Better suited for B-Wood.

Your imagination and dream for Bollywood are not significant compared to what others have in your country. Try to come out of Bollywood sometimes.

This represents their physical strength and vigilance. If this looks like a circus than what about the march and physical work out by the armies around the world, do them look like comic characters to you?
