Reports: 4 service members killed in Tennessee shootings

He looks like a typical redneck Confederate flag waving white supremacist to me.

Some of the more liberal media outlets you know were absolutely praying it was a white christian male.

Redneck or Arab, he was sent promptly to the special Hell to which he deserved to belong. Any more like him will get this swift dispatch too.

. .
Shameful incident that has nothing to do with Islamic conduct let alone decent human conduct obviously.

I hear that he was brainwashed by Daesh ideology on social media.

Frigthening that seemingly well-functioning and educated people in the West can transform into such monsters. I guess we can say the same about all murderers that kill each day in the US. Well, at times the world is a really, really messed up place.

RIP to the four victims.

Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez has been identified by CBS News as the gunman who fatally shot four Marines and wounded a police officer on Thursday in shootings at two military recruiting and training centers in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Abdulazeez, 24, is also dead.

At least two others were injured, including one in critical condition. The officer is in stable condition. The shootings happened at separate military reserve centers on Lee Highway and Amnicola Highway.

Here’s what we know so far:

1. He Was a Naturalized U.S. Citizen Originally From Kuwait

NBC News reports that Abdulazeez is a naturalized U.S. citizen originally from Kuwait.

Authorities said the gunman lived in the Chattanooga area recently, but CBS News reports that he was from Phoenix, Arizona. The Associated Press says he lived in Hixson, Tennessee, which is a few miles from Chattanooga.

CBS News earlier incorrectly reported he was a 41-year-old from Arizona.

He was arrested on April 21, 2015 for driving under the influence in Hamilton County, Tennessee, according to the Chattanoogan.com.

Police have not yet released a motive for why the gunman targeted the two military facilities and military personnel.

Authorities said he did not work at the military centers. The case is being investigated as possible “domestic terrorism” and the FBI is leading the probe.

2. An ISIS-Affiliated Account Ominously Tweeted ‘#Chattanooga’ Just Before the Shooting Occurred

An ISIS-related account tweeted “O American dogs soon YOU will see the wonders,” and used #Chattanooga, at 10:34 a.m., just about the same time police say the shooting began, according to JihadWatch.org.

The account, which remains active, has tweeted out other references to Chattanooga:

The tweet is similar to one sent out moments before two ISIS-inspired gunmen opened fire outside the “Draw Muhammad” event in Garland, Texas, in May.

3. He Graduated From the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga in 2012

Abdulazeez graduated from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga in 2012, according to posts on his mother’s Facebook page and a resume posted on Indeed.com.

He graduated with a degree in electrical engineering. He worked from April 2009 to April 2010 as an intern with the Tennessee Valley Authority. He also had internships at Mohawk Industries and Global Trade Express.

CBS News incorrectly reported that he was an employee of the city of Chattanooga:

Before going to UT-Chattanooga, he attended Red Bank High School in Tennessee.

4. A Witness Said the Gunman Fired From a Mustang Outside a Recruiting Center in a Shopping Mall

A recent photo posted by his sister. (Facebook)

A woman who worked at a restaurant next to the recruiting office on Lee Highway told CNN she saw the shooting.

“I looked out of our window and I seen the guy in his car, a silver Mustang, drop top, a white guy and he had a high-powered rifle and was just firing shots into the Air Force, Navy and Marines office,” Gina Mule told CNN. “I don’t even know how many shots he fired, but it was a lot. … After he got done opening fire, he pulled out really quick.”

The two military facilities are about eight miles apart. Police say the shooter went to the Amnicola Highway location after opening fire on Lee Highway. The four Marines were killed there and Abdulazeez also died there, but authorities haven’t said if he was fatally shot or killed himself.

5. Police Do Not Believe There Is a Second Shooter

Police believe the gunman acted alone and they are not actively searching for another shooter.

The US and the world need to fight Daesh much more and destroy it completely. All "clerics" everywhere who encourage Daesh ideology must be persecuted.

They are giving us normal peaceful Muslims a bad name. Idiotic lunatics. Good that he is dead at least.

A few of such people give the 3.5 million big and peaceful Arab-American community a very bad name. I hope that most Americans do not think that we are all terrorists.

Americans are great people so I hope that they don't think so.

Believe me we have suffered from those lunatics for years and do it each single day!

It is my personal philosophy to try and never paint with a broad brush. Which by the way I feel is done way to often on PDF (Another subject for another day)

My friend @Saif al-Arab I full well know that the Arab-American community is a humble hard working bunch as a whole. People who want to live their lives in peace, have a good life and provide for their families. Just like any other American community.

Same goes for 99.9% the Muslims who inhabit the planet we all share.

Thank you my friend. You are very correct when saying that we tend to generalize people too quickly in this world and we are in a way almost all guilty of it to certain degrees.

It shows great character to be able not to generalize even in the midst of such negative news. Many people could learn from that.

Americans should just know that people and whole nations in the Arab and Muslim world have suffered tremendously from that small minority of lunatics and corrupt regimes.

Indeed the 3.5 million Arab-Americans (one of the bigger ethnic communities in the US) are a very well integrated community in the US with many prominent members in all fields and spheres of American life. I myself was surprised to learn about this when looking at the Wikipedia articles.

One criticism I have to say though is that some of the laws in the West are simply too soft when it comes to Daesh supporters. Here in Europe I have seen instances of people from all backgrounds supporting Daesh and similar groups openly on Facebook and Twitter (often a small minority among them actually end up becoming Daesh members) but nothing is done about them!

The Muslim regimes are by large incompetent so US involvement in combating Daesh and similar groups is very important but it seems that Obama does not want to involve himself in the Muslim world much any longer. The bombardments against Daesh in Syria and Iraq are too few and far between I am afraid. The Muslim regimes should be able to deal with this problem but somehow the idiots cannot do so and 99% of all ordinary people in the MENA region have no say in it.

USA as the greatest power on the planet and biggest Western democracy should actively pressure regimes to adopt political reforms. You have the power to change status quo.

They called it terrorism right away. They still haven't called the whitey who killed innocent Black Christians a terrorist. Honestly these whites are incredibly racist and will go to the ends of the earth to defend white criminals.

Not every single thing can be called "Terrorism" there are set of law defined on what should be called "Terrorism" in the United States and what should be called otherwise

And no, in fact, White are called terrorist more than any other skin color in the US, of the last 15 attacks which classified as Terrorist attack by the FBI and DOJ during 2000-2015, 4 are muslims, 1 black and 10 are whites.

Stupid lone wolves. This surely won't be the last.
Whether it is a psycho white man with a firearm, a Muslim guy inspired by his local community mullah and ISIS or a black man trying to get out of ghetto....

Firearms firearms and more firearms. just create more problems.

If it is not firearms, it can be a car plowed through a crowd. The real disease is of the mind, not of the choice of weapon itself.

This sort of thing has to stop. I still can't figure out what causes people to go over the edge ....
Anyway RIP. Our thoughts are with the families left behind.

We all know what causes lunacy such as this, but it may not be palatable for many to read in in black and white, so I will defer.
