Report from China: What Keeps the Muslim World Back?

It's not misinterpretation, it's refusal to change with time. Much more like using crossbows to fight a modern war in the 21st just because some civilisation won a battle with crossbows 1000 years ago.
Brusque but true.

A member on this thread "Caption please ?" tried to prove to me that we should be following rules of war which was fought 1500 yrs back. It is also interesting to note that there 're many other muslims on the same thread who've questioned his logic.
I think a few bad apples earn the muslim community a bad name.

In fact many Muslim countries (including many Arab ones) are going in the right path, by focusing on economic development and education. I can list many of them just off the top of my head in addition to the ones you have listed.

But some outliers (notably in Iraq/Syria) are choosing a very poor path that is only benefiting their enemies.

Those guys really should think before they do something, is this going to benefit us, or our enemies?

True that some Arab countries seem to be making some progress BUT they cannot truly become part of the modern world until they get rid of those anachronistic monarchies.

Monarchies by their very nature exclude most of the talented people from contributing to the overall development of a country.

UAE!!! It is definitely one of the most progressive countries , though I cant say so about other muslim countries in ME.
Most of them are trying to catch up with the world, but still remain excessively regressive.

What are you on about? If you disagree you can close your eyes move on.

Lolzzz
Let me simplify it...
I said you're right, just that a few muslims earn their community a bad name.
Capisce amigo??
I guess all this while you were misconstruing my posts (I hope not!). :)

Seems some explanation is needed for the rage of ccp on Japanese regarding world war 2.

But the majority of them put religion before their country and thats where the problems start.
It is surprising that many on PDF, as seen in their posts, prefer to defend Islam per se rather than Pakistan if given a choice.

How can a nation be built when religion is the be-all and end-all of its people? Is this the reason why most Muslim nations are in such turmoil?

Another reason is the lust for power and pelf by the self styled mullahs of this world. What better way than to invoke centuries old percepts and the fear of Allah on the sheeple? They have twisted the Quran and interpreted it to suit their wily designs. And the sad part is that they've mostly succeeded.

There is a lot of rage against what Imperial Japan did over 70 years ago. And against the war criminals who were executed back then.

But that's not something we blame on the modern generation of Japanese people, who were not even born at that time.

we do care about who hurt us in the past. unlike you indians, still worship your former colonial master like a god and even being proud of being colonized.

Dont get me wrong but I thought China expected an apology from Japan.

Not sure about that, but if it was it would be from the state of Japan, due to visiting the Yasukuni shrine.

Obviously we can't ask the regular Japanese people on the street to apologize for something they didn't actually do. It's illogical.

Gotcha!!!

You mean like imitating their culture, naming your babies after English names, following their wedding traditions, falling for white man, accepting white mans superiority and try learn their accent, ........ The list goes on and on.

Chinese youth are already invaded by British and converted them.

This coming from an Indian, whose country is being governed by fundamentalist Hindus is indeed quite rich.

I hope you do read your own newspapers to know how serious the situation in India is and where your country is heading in terms of religious turmoil (Ghar wapsi anyone?). I am more than happy to help, if you want to know more about it, :-)

@OP: I think some of the points are really valid. We Muslims should spend more time and energy on research and development than fighting over Adhan times and how to say prayers properly.

Taking inspiration from the past is not always a bad thing, for example, you can motivate yourself by knowing that your forefathers have been doing an extra ordinary job in all disciplines of science and technology and that you should keep this tradition alive in modern times. Etc.

Some points are valid but largely its bull shit

China is 1 country

The muslim world consists of almost 60 spanning many continents with diverse cultures and languages

Some are moving forward some are not

Why should we forget old hatreds, remember your enemy always, power comes and goes snd the muslim world is to big not to be powerful again

When that power returns make sure your enemies today are made to suffer whether its the jews or the Burmese
