Report from China: What Keeps the Muslim World Back?

This coming from an Indian, whose country is being governed by fundamentalist Hindus is indeed quite rich.

I hope you do read your own newspapers to know how serious the situation in India is and where your country is heading in terms of religious turmoil (Ghar wapsi anyone?). I am more than happy to help, if you want to know more about it, :-)

@OP: I think some of the points are really valid. We Muslims should spend more time and energy on research and development than fighting over Adhan times and how to say prayers properly.

Taking inspiration from the past is not always a bad thing, for example, you can motivate yourself by knowing that your forefathers have been doing an extra ordinary job in all disciplines of science and technology and that you should keep this tradition alive in modern times. Etc.
Here it is you have said the very thing that is being discussed on the thread. Mate religion must be last not the front corner of your all advancement and progress that you need in present and future.:-)

Your level of ignorance is spectacular in scope! 'Fundamentalist Hindus' are a miniscule minority in this world. Muslims? Go figure!

'Ghar wapsi' was done by a couple of idiot fringe elements. And you taint the entire Hindu community with their shenanigans? I'm a Hindu but not a fundamentalist and so are almost one billion Hindus like me. Get real and stop living in a cocoon spun by your mullah brigade who have a habit of making a mountain out of a mole hill! And guys like you seem to lap up this crap so fast as though there's no tomorrow. :fie:

Interesting! They're missing one thing though and that is context. Chinese had a bloody revolution and a war with pretty much each of their tormentors(colonials), and a period of relative exclusion from international community. Arabs were pretty much given a partial independence from former overlords and a form of neocolonialism persists driven mostly by corporations. Middle east never WON it's independence. The current regimes in middle east are direct beneficiaries of colonial powers. Last but not the least the modern economy owes it's opulence to a debt and interest based Monetary system something in direct conflict with the value systems in middle east. Hence a subject population controlled by Western backed monarchies.

Muslim world? there is no such thing

the failed of one states or two or three with Muslim majority population it make the rest seem bad?

do you think how many Christian or other religious predominant states which is failed or in near bankruptcy? especially in Africa or Latin America?

I'm pretty much agree wiht this viewpoint. We Chinese are practical not only because our culture told us to do so, but also the result of bitter, or bloody lesson we have been through. Every time we tried to fix the situation in tradtional way, we got a major setback(opium war, 1st sino-Japanese war) with tens of thouands civilian slaughted. The sword and spear was no longer useful, then we turn to rifle and ironclad warship; Beiyang Fleet was destroyed by Japan, we realized the corrupted monarchy should be finished; the capitalist republic could not end the warlords and fragmentation, we took our chance with communism; central planning did not work well, we chose to start the "reform and opening-up". On the contrary, the Muslim World were just waiting. Indeed they got their independence by waiting, got the oil resources by waiting. Without the bloody trial and error that Chinese have been through, it is not a surprise that Muslim World are making terrible mistakes when they really want to do someting,

The article is not depicting the reality of the two. China is one huge country, while the Muslim world with the same or slightly more population is divided on more than fifty countries with almost 50 different political systems and covering a distance of more than half the globe.
If the Muslim world unites one day under one political system again, it will match China or any other superpower in a matter of few decades.
