i think the units of the pa that are using the type 56 should have them replaced with the type 81 ,which is every bit as reliable in rugged conditions but with better range and accuracy. does anyone on this forum know if efforts are being made to replace type 56 with type 81

Type 81 was also bought by PA but it was not found to be suitable (for reasons unknown to me). Essentially is the same rifle as Type 56 but with better range. I think PA is looking for a non-Chinese solution for its rifle needs.

BTW, here is a picture of PA with Type-81.

Chinese landforce is replacing it with type 95 (5.8mm)

Are there any advantages of using the Bullpup design vs the conventional design? I imagine ther would be situational advantages, but would moving to a bullpup design for the entire PA be feasible (purely hypothetically)?

I remember someone suggesting that the Bullpup design is not as effective when in a prone position, any truth to that?

impressive picture but is it effective!

There are pros and cons of the bullpup design. Chinese are going that way but I do not think PA will. Pakistan has the option to go with the Chinese bull-pup design but I think they will end up with a local non-bullpup design.

. . .
I have seen on sinodefence that a non bullpup version of Type 95 has been developed.

Which one is Pakistan more likely to go for if it wanted to equip certain units?

unlike aircrafts and warships, small weapon reminds me of its RAS,applicability and ordnance standard rather than budget. just go for M16 if it matches the logistical and maintenance system.

It did not in the past...not sure if a variant of it will in the future (its to be replaced by the US so not sure if Pakistan would want to go for a design that is at the end of its life). Variants of it like the M-4 are well liked by the PA.

The logistics and maintenance was the primary reason that the G-3 was selected (admittedly in those days (this is 64 or so), the G-3 was a very decent and top end rifle to be inducted.

I think there is considerable experience in house and tooling available to go with something home-grown but based on western design.
