Had worked with a Pakistani some times back. ( This was the time when Madras was renamed Chennai in India ). We used to laugh about this renaming about cities. he used to openly display his anger with Lyallpur renamed to Faislabad and because it was being named after a person who had no relation with Pakistan..

What they fail to realize is that we have a combination of great cultures in one place and we do not need to alter or change it.

This is why some of us, like myself, feel that we should be grateful for what we have and try to promote it as much as we can and not pander to those who do not even have much.

i dont know what such things are ripe in Punjab. here in KP we still have Huripur, Abbottabad and so on even small villages names after Sikh, Hindu and Birts are with the same names .

Palm, Coconut and Date Trees are an old fixture and identifier of Sindh , especially in areas close to the sea so there should be a concentration on planting such trees all over the city.

We got many trees planted in Boat Basin during its developmental stages, part of the Islamization I guess.

The only name change I agree with are the ones that were a necessity and/or required like Khyber Pakhtunwa.

I would also recommend changes to names based on the suggested name being one of high importance, but naming it after Gadaffi, Faisal and the likes is not good.

I also dont like Benzirabad and Zulfibarbad.

well faz nothing wrong as long as you can mint a greater favour for the country by merely one name

and yeh we see name changes after BB and so on and when next govt comes its changed to another political party.
