The economy under Zia's era grew because the U.S and Saudi Arabia gave tons of aid...

Other than that, most of today's industries, dams, basic infrastructure--Universities--Science & technology research institutions--building Islamabad as Capital City etc came from Ayub Khan's era, who himself was self-made....

Look around history, Mullahs were ruining mankind long before Pakistan was created.
The never ending devotion of people has been used and exploited by Mullahs long before U and I can start contemplating.

Why does the story of Ahmedi group begin from branding them as non muslims. The leader of Qadyani religion was just a mullah like any other mullah of today ....

Now a technical point, Gen Zia used them as long as they could be used. As a muslims Shariah and Islam are our prime duties. However Mullahs could not be trusted to do this job.
this is why, Gen Zia made the FSC, ( Federal shariat court ) and INC ( Islamic Nazriati Council ) however limited both these departments to sending their suggestions to the parliament, where they may or may not be voted into legislation.

In modern history, I would like to encourage you to study Molana Bhashani's role & pre 1971 Pakistan.


anyway technicalities apart. Today after 25 odd years one may criticize as much as we want to, however we neglect two important points.

1. People who took charge after Gen Zia were incompetent and yet have not achieved half of what Gen Zia did.

2. Gen Zia's time were saturated with KGB, CIA, MOSAD etc etc etc. Exactly how much emphasis was he available to give to domestic issues.

3. No matter how capable a leader is, We are talking about running a COUNTRY. no leader can micro manage and substitute several hundred departments which in our case are non functional anyway.

4. Please bare in mind, that WE as people have had a rather violent history and an infatuation with power.

Now you guys are free to debate me on the points I have listed above.

This Graph gives a clear idea that Pakistan under Civil/Political Govt could never come on TOP.
They have always failed to improve Pakistan while they had improved their lives by looting Pakistan. Thats why USA want democracy here, so we keep begging from them.
A patriotic Military General who has spent his whole life serving Pakistan can do much better for his country then of those corrupt Politicians who enjoy their lives abroad and come Pakistan in elections and their BS new generation cant even speak Urdu.
