ISLAMABAD: According to Islamabad Electric Supply Company former interior minister Rehman Malik tops the list of politicians who have yet to pay their power bill, Express News reported on Monday.
The electric supply company issued a list on March 24 of former federal ministers who were guilty of not paying their bills. The list included more than 21 names and included former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar, former Punjab governor Sardar Latif Khosa and Speaker National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza.

Malik tops the list owing the company over Rs4.7 million. Khosa’s outstanding arrears total over Rs0.4 million while Mirza owes over Rs0.3 million to the electric supply company.
Former Chairman Senate and former Federal Law Minister Farooq H Naek is in debt of over Rs0.3 million.
Other defaulters include former prime minister Shaukat Aziz, Former federal ministers Firdous Ashiq Awan, Sameera Malik, Sumsam Bukhari, Mian Manzoor Wattoo, Makhdoom Shahabuddin, Ghous Bakhsh Mehar and Faisal Karim Kundi.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) sent the list to provincial election commissioners who
will keep record for further investigation.

The ECP had earlier announced that anyone who is guilty of outstanding utility bills will not be eligible to participate in the upcoming polls.
Various authorities have now gained pace and are formulating list of defaulters to enable recovery of the payment before the elections.

LAHORE – It’s like a bolt from the blue for hundreds of politicians who face rejection of their nomination papers for the May 11 elections upon being declared defaulters by the Islamabad Electricity Supply Company.

The IESCO says the listed 382 politicians, dozens of them serving senators, former ministers and renowned parliamentarians, had not paid their utility bills during their stay at the Parliamentary Lodges.
The list was sent to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) which has forwarded it to its regional offices and all the returning officers throughout the country for ‘necessary action’.
As the process of filing the nomination papers by the politicians is underway, a letter from EC Deputy Director (Elec-II) Asif Ali Yasin has directed all the returning officers to use the information provided in the defaulters list during the process of the scrutiny.
An ECP law officer, who wished not to be named, said that under rule 12(d) of The Representation of the People Act, 1976, the nomination papers of any person could be rejected if he or she is a defaulter of government dues or utility charges – including telephone, electricity, gas and water bills – exceeding the amount of Rs10,000 (ten thousand rupees) for over six months at the time of filing of nomination papers.
The defaulters include big names from almost all the parties but former interior minister Rehman Malik tops the list by owing to the company over Rs4.7 million.
Other prominent persons defaulting on bills exceeding Rs10,000 are Ishaq Dar, Dr Fahmida Mirza, Hina Rabbani Khar, Mian Manzoor Wattoo, Sardar Latif Khan Khosa, Farooq H Naek, Makhdoon Shahabud Din, Firdous Ashiq Awan, Syed Samsam Bukhari and Fasil Karim Kundi.

When contacted, former ECP secretary Kanwar Dilshad said the nomination papers of a person who is defaulter of more than Rs10,000 of government dues could be rejected by the returning officers. He also said that such politicians as are defaulting on utility bills for more than six months, their nominations will be rejected by the returning officers, while those whose defaulting period is not more than six months can file their papers after clearing the dues.

Yeah but the thing is Fakhro bhai alone can't do any magic:cry: we know our system its really corrupt:astagh:... we should say a big NO to these old parties and should give a chance to PTI...
 
If A poor person does not pay bills they simply Cut down his connections... Only poor deserve punishment in Pakistan
