Redrawing the Borders of Pakistan

In 1916 Britain and France hatched a secret agreement to divide the lands of the Khilafah between them. This plan became known as the Sykes-Picot agreement, named after French diplomat François Georges-Picot and British diplomatic advisor Mark Sykes. Under the agreement Britain was allocated control of Jordan, Iraq and a small area around Haifa. France was allocated control of South-eastern Turkey, Northern Iraq, Syria and Lebanon. The controlling powers were left free to decide on state boundaries within these areas. The Middle Eastern map today is the legacy of Sykes-Picot with the borders matching Mr Sykes and Mr Picot’s lines drawn using a ruler over the former lands of the Khilafah. The Middle East turned from a once united area under one state into a multitude of small and weak states unable to challenge the western powers till this day.

In June 2006 a retired US army colonel Ralph Peters proposed a new ‘Sykes-Picot’ plan for the Middle East and Pakistan in order to divide the Muslim world further still along ethnic lines. The full article ‘Blood Borders’ published in the Armed Forces Journal can be viewed here. Recently his map of a divided Pakistan has been making the rounds among Parliamentarians in Pakistan.

Focussing on the proposed plan for Pakistan Ralph Peters states:

What Afghanistan would lose to Persia in the west, it would gain in the east, as Pakistan’s Northwest Frontier tribes would be reunited with their Afghan brethren (the point of this exercise is not to draw maps as we would like them but as local populations would prefer them). Pakistan, another unnatural state, would also lose its Baluch territory to Free Baluchistan. The remaining “natural” Pakistan would lie entirely east of the Indus, except for a westward spur near Karachi.

Maps of his before and after plan for Pakistan can be seen below:

The Muslims of Pakistan, those in the army, government and judiciary need to make a stand and start taking steps to remove all western interference in the region, and unite the country under the banner of La ilaha illAllah on which Pakistan was supposed to have been established.

As described in Khilafah.com’s special report on ‘America’s Undeclared War on Pakistan,’ America has made it clear that Pakistan is squarely in its sights. President Bush has already signed an executive order allowing attacks inside Pakistan and President-elect Obama has openly stated that, “the most important thing we’re going to have to do with respect to Afghanistan, is actually deal with Pakistan.”

If action is not undertaken soon then further division and infighting between Muslims is to be expected as we have witnessed in Iraq. It’s no coincidence that General Petraeus, the former commander of US-forces in Iraq is now in command of CENTCOM (US Central Command) whose forces are currently deployed in Afghanistan. Forces from CENTCOM would be deployed in any military action against the FATA tribal areas.

Instead of waiting for the Balkanisation of Pakistan we should create our own plans and redraw the map of the entire region based upon Islam.

Allah سبحانه وتعالى says in Surah al-Anfal, ayah 30:

وَيَمْكُرُونَ وَيَمْكُرُ اللّهُ وَاللّهُ خَيْرُ الْمَاكِرِينَ

”They plot and plan, and Allah too plans; but the best of planners is Allah.”

One possible scenario for redrawing the maps of the region is shown below:

The natural situation of Muslims in South-East Asia is not to be divided along ethnic lines. Rather they must be united on the one thing they all believe in and love - Islam. This is their heritage and as history as shown, the power of Islam as a unifying force is unparalleled in history.

Before Islam, the Arab tribes Aws and Khazraj were enemies and fought countless bloody battles. However, once they embraced Islam they became brothers who united together to become the Ansar (supporters) of Islam, who stood with the Messenger صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم to unite the entire Arabian Peninsula under Islam. The next generations then spread Islam further afield to the land of Hind under the great general Muhammad bin Qasim.

Today, all the armies and mujahideen groups in the region would be united together into one army under the leadership of a Khaleefah who is the Commander in-Chief. Instead of fighting to secure American interests in the region this army would be used to secure Islamic interests. The fixed nation-state borders would be removed and in their place expanding frontier lines established.

Allah سبحانه وتعالى says in Surah al-Imran, ayah 103:

“Hold fast to Allah’s rope altogether; do not split into factions. Remember Allah’s favour to you: you were enemies and then He brought your hearts together and you became brothers by His grace; you were about to fall into a pit of Fire and He saved you from it - in this way Allah makes His revelations clear to you so that you may be rightly guided.”

This new Khilafah would become a launching point for unifying the rest of the Muslim lands. Northwards into Central Asia; Eastwards into South East Asia; South into India; and West into the Middle East.

Ibn Qutaybah (renowned scholar from Iraq 213 - 276 AH) said: “The people of Khurasan are the people of Da’wah and helpers of the state of Islam.”

The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه و سلم said:

عِصَابَتَانِ مِنْ أُمَّتِي أَحْرَزَهُمَا اللَّهُ مِنْ النَّارِ عِصَابَةٌ تَغْزُو الْهِنْدَ وَعِصَابَةٌ تَكُونُ مَعَ عِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَام

“Allah will protect two groups of my Ummah from the Fire: a group that will Open Hind, and a group that will be with Esa ibn Maryam عليه السلام.” [An-Nisa'i, Ahmad]

Al-Hakim in his book al-Mustadrak reported from Thawban رضي الله عنه who said that Allah’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم said:

“There will be a war between three persons about your treasure, all of them are sons of rulers; none of them will hold authority. Then, the bearers of black flags will come out from the east, who will fight you fiercely. He added saying: If you see him, you have to pay homage to him even if you creep on snow since he is the Khalifah of Allah, al-Mahdi.”

The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم said:

“Indeed Allah gathered up the earth for me so that I saw its eastern and western parts, and indeed the dominion of my Ummah will reach what was gathered up for me from it.” [Saheeh Muslim narrated by Thawbaan رضي الله عنه]

Brothers,

We must understand that maps are re - drawn with the active collusion of the people of the region. Whatever the Sykes-Picot agreement may have been, this would not have been possible without the active support of the people of Arabia who preferred English to the Turks.

No doubt the Sykes Picot agreement was vile; it cheated Arabs by giving Syria and Lebanon, (area known as Bilad-es Sham) to France. Pray tell me would this have been possible if the people of what is now Saudi Arabia not sided with the English and helped blowing railway lines and finally capture Aqaba from the Turks? Arabs are still enamored of the Lawrence of Arabia and consider him as liberator of Arabs.

Similarly Bangla Desh would still have been East Pakistan, had not Bengalis actively supported Indian Army. We have Baluch separatist movement, also have we forgotten Pakhtunistan cry of Bacha Khan and what about Jiye Sindh movement? MQM could also try to form an independent Karachi - Hyderabad, if the circumstance were right.

IMO, it is a fallacy to blame others, greatest danger to Pakistan is from within. Haven’t you read that Swat is independent in all but name? Where is the Sykes Picket conspiracy? I am sure Fazlullah has not even heard of the names.

Greatest danger to Pakistan lies from within and the main culprits are Islamic extremists, religious parties and their sympathizers. Others, such as India and the West simply exploit an already existing situation. All posts such as the one started this thread are simply meant to confuse the issue and to fool the people regarding who is the real enemy of Pakistan, IMO the real enemy is Taliban and if heavens forbid, Pakistani map is redrawn, it would be directly due to actions of the religious parties. For those who haven’t read News editorial about Swat, I quote it below.

The fall of Swat
Saturday, December 27, 2008
There has been no official announcement, no victory parades or televised addresses by the victorious party, no cheering crowds welcoming the liberators – but Swat, to all intents and purposes, has fallen to the Taliban. It is the announcement that all girls education in the valley will cease from January 15 that is the tipping point. All schools that teach girls have been ordered by the Taliban to close by that date or face the inevitable consequences – being blown up being the most usual of these. They have already blown up well over a hundred girls schools, principally those operated by the government, but have moved in recent weeks to blowing up private institutions as well. Female education has virtually ceased anyway, and the Taliban announcement merely puts the seal on what is a manifest reality – the government has lost the battle for Swat and the Taliban have won. They operate at will, go where they like, issue orders and proclamations that a terrified public are unable to ignore and broadcast their message of obscurantism on the radio for all to hear – and obey.

The ANP government of NWFP has called for assistance. But little seems to be forthcoming. Refugees stream out of the valley, the operators of private schools try to fight a rearguard action, the tourist trade is dead and buried long ago and the beautiful valley of Swat now enters a time of darkness. The Taliban announcement regarding girl's education may seem a strange point at which to declare Swat 'fallen' – but it is of huge symbolic significance. It is significant because there will be compliance – the population and the operators of schools, including the government who are the majority education provider – will do what they are told. They will obey the orders of the Taliban because the Taliban are more powerful than the government that is supposed to protect and sustain them. The government is unable or unwilling to protect its own schools and is not going to lift a finger to protect those of the private sector. It gives the clear impression of having abandoned Swat and its people to whatever their fate may be.

Could the government – either of Musharraf or the present rudderless, drifting Marie Celeste – have done anything to stop this? Yes, and in all likelihood they decided not to. The notion that somehow the militants are our 'allies' runs as a strong and deep current through elements of the army and intelligence services, the bureaucracy and the politicians themselves. There are powerful forces that provide tacit if not overt support to them, forces which would like to see the Taliban triumphant in the rest of Pakistan and not just Swat. The caliphate of Swat is becoming a reality before our eyes. Where next?

Once the muslim countries go along the representative govt road it will only be a matter of time before we see the emergence of a united states of islam.

Well the people you mention where all bought to life by the pak military and the pak govt.....they have never ruled pakistan as the secular-military govt has done.
Trying to blame the ills of pakistan on the religious parties and their sympathizers is way off the mark.

I agree with dabong1!
Moreover, I would like to request that the term 'Islamic extremists' shall NOT be used for such people because seldom are the acts done by them in said references and regards are IslamIC; like the Indian Muslims refused to bury the (so-called) Muslim terrorists of Mumbai in Muslim graveyards, I strongly believe we should urgently start disowning such militant group actions of whom are not only destroying Pakistan, the future Islamic Republic of Pakistan but also causing much more greater damage; that to the True Islamic Spirit of Unity!

Puhleeeeez guys of my age! lets stop being influenced by enemy's terminology, fabrications, propaganda and lets just stop letting them put words in our mouth.

...and Allah knows the best!

Hon sir,

Why are you side stepping the Swat issue. What would you call Fazlullah group if not "Islamic terrorists". What about all those suicide bombers in Pakistan; aren't all of these young Muslim fanatics and claim to be killing in the name of Islam? Have you looked into Lashkar-e-Jhangvi who claim that all Shia's are "Wajib ul Qatal"?

How many more Pakistanis have to be killed before you are ready to call spade a "spade". I am sure you don’t agree with what Fazlullah represents? But then why you are denying the fact the Swat is virtually independent and de facto no longer part of Pakistan and is supported by the religious parties.

Let us hear where you stand?

Why is the trouble going on in swat?

How many bombings would there be in pakstan if pakistan opted out of the WoT.

Would pakistan still carry on fighting if the US left afghanistan.

Why are the bombers attacking pakistan.

By joining the WoT has pakistans security been increased.

.
problems in pakistan have got a lot to do with wats happenin in afghanistan. pakistan stood besides a non muslim country and helped her to bomb a muslim country. no one in pakistan liked it and therefore pakistani muslims decided to go to afghanistan and help afghanis in carryin out their jehad against invading forces. we should not forget that pashtuns on both sides of the border have been living together for centuries which is y they have got strong feelings for each other. 1947 was a partition on eastern front of pakistan and nothing got changed on our western border. ppl livin on western border were promised that GoP will not interfere in their tribal customs. after 9/11 GoP did wateva it was told by US. this meant pakistan was helping US in killin muslims in afghanistan. now this perception turned ppl livin in tribal areas against GoP hence givin a start to suicide bombing and other offensive against GoP and finally ppl of pakistan. later the situation got worst when indians started funding these kind of activites in pakistan.
now the only way pakistan can bring thigs in control is by changing the view point of ppl of pakistan espacially ppl of tribal areas. this can only be done by withdrawing our support from US so called war on terror which pakistanis and muslims around the globe see as war against muslims. after doin this we should deal with the situation within pakistan using wat our gov calls a three pronged strategy.
also to further ease the situation gov should look into imposing shariah in espacially our pakhtonkwa province. ppl of knowledge know that there is nothing wrong with shariah law and its only western propoganda which makes it look lik some kind of barbaric law. pakistani law is in line with shariah law and therefore it wont be a big issue to bring in shariah law. some amendments after consulting religious scholars will fix the problem.
