What's new

RBS-70 Bolide Mk-II missiles, sights supplied to Pakistan

LCH will have a hard time against these MK-II which is supposedly latest and the greatest.

The latest and greatest RBS 70, circa 2003 which is when the Bolide upgrade came online. A newer upgraded called the RBS 70NG is available, but it's status isn't clear at this point.

The RBS 70 uses the same RB 70 missile as the BAMSE (RBS 23) air defense system. The only difference is that the RBS 70 variant use laser guidance, while BAMSE is radio command guided.

However, the RBS 70 is being replaced in Swedish service by a ground launched IRIS-T.

In Norwegian service the RBS 70 was replaced by NASAMS and NASAMS II.

RBS 70 is still a great weapon system and its guidance options make countermeasures very difficult to use against it, specifically the RBS 70 models laser guidance option, but it's slowly being replaced by newer models in the service of its primary users, like Sweden from which the system originates.

It's no longer the latest and greatest, even the MKII Bolide is nearing 15 years old and the RBS 70 NG's status is unclear, but it's still serviceable and a valid threat that shouldn't be mocked.

That is a 6 year old news.

Isn't that Mistral? Not RBS 70?

I see Mistral, Anza (or some derivative), but it's not clear if RBS 70 is in the video too. However, Pakistan is a known user of the RBS 70, so it ultimately doesn't matter.

FSA,ISIS and Kurds are taking down Syrian,Turkish,Allied and Russian heli's like little birds.
With their vintage Russian Manpads.
Strela? If,it is late 60's manpad still leathal.
Igla 80's tech still lethal, took down heavily modified turkish AH-1
Getting the drift? No matter how good the chaff or flare are on the aircraft,if the missile is fast and near it is lethal.
Dozens of videos are on the internet of even crappier manpads like FN-6 taking down Mi-35 and Bells.
Even Anza(Imagine a Strela and Stinger hybrid) a pakistan made AA manpad was quite effective took down a Mig-21,27 and a Mi-17.
RBS when compared these to these is like a Ferrari to a Fiat.Hence more effective.

Its a great weapon. But not the latest. Sweden has turned to IRIS-T for their next version of Manpad.

flieght cieling of RBS 70 MK 2 is 5000 meters and flight cieling of LCH is 6500 mteres so the LCH escorting owr tank columns dont need to worry anything :sarcastic:

It's not the only SAM part of formations there are other systems too, and all Indian assets can be engaged by available assets. :D

Just read this this carefully
The missile is primarily for air defence with a maximum intercept altitude at over 5,000m

It does not say that 5000 m is the ceiling rather that's the altitude where it is most effective.

.
Almost All the Fighter Planes Comes With counter measures but they dont Say hey we just have this so we are invincible
and actual combat is different .
So If you think Since LCH can fly at the altitude of 6 + Kms you dont need to worry about any thing you have other thing coming because Pakistan army has loads of low end Sams besides these MAN PADS

Benefit of this man pad is mostly
Gives More Option when operator use it air defence network
It gives benefit on range hitting targets outside the range limit when you compare it with other systems e.g stinger, mistral

But Problem is its too Heavy , one person cant carry it you need
Unlike Stinger This is not a Fire&Forget System , which means operator must know what they are doing

RBS works with Giraffe radar, check out Mahaaz show it was shown in it.

Pakistan has purchased 213 RBS-70 Bolide Mk-II missiles from Sweden between 2010 and 2012, the UN Register of Conventional Arms has recorded in its reports (See 1 & 2). An undisclosed number of sights have also been acquired (See 3).

The Bolide missile is a development of the RBS 70 Mk 2. It has a maximum speed of more than Mach 2, faster than the RBS 70 which has a speed of Mach 1.6.

The Bolide missile design incorporates a number of new systems including a fibre-optic gyroscope, an adaptable proximity fuse which provides all-target capability and a high kill probability against small and dark targets, new sustainer rocket motor with an improved performance propellant and new electronics. The new sustainer rocket motor gives the missile a shorter time of flight and higher manoeuvrability than the RBS 70.

The new compact reprogrammable electronics suite installed in the missile allows the system to be easily upgraded with new software. The missile is primarily for air defence with a maximum intercept altitude at over 5,000m, but it can also be deployed against surface targets. It has a range of 250m to 8,000m.

It's also showing we've received 45 Iveco LMV Armoured combat vehicles from italy in 2010.

And 10 Dingo-2 Armored vehicles from Germany in 2k10.

EVERY PERSON HERE WHO HAVE QUOTED AND REPLIED TO THE TROLL POSTS BY @GURU DUTT IS EQUALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR DERAILING THE THREAD.

Despite countless requests and suggestion about NEVER reply to a filth and point less post by quoting it our members are not getting this simple point. I suggest you edit you posts, remove the absolute 5shitty and pointless posts you have quoted and no are the reason of these idiotic remarks being part of the thread.

Kimdly please delete that from your posts otherwise i will have to get these deleted. However you people will manage it yourself and edit the qouted part. YOU MUST HAVE REPORTED THE POST WHEN LCH WAS BROUGHT IN JUST TO START A TROLL WAR AND TO DERAIL THE THREAD.

What will LCH's Chaff & flare achieve against laser guided RBS 70 MK-II? Its not Infra Red.

Bingo!! That was my point. LASER (Light Amplification through Sustained Emission of Radiation) is a light based lock to explain it simply. Chaffs and Flares can't break it as the missile is locked right onto the actual light emission based "pictures" of the target. The war head can't be detonated or fooled easily!

have to appreciate the complete lack of intelligence displayed by certain members in trying to downplay the service ceiling of the RBS-70.. by justifying that a attack helicopter fly at higher altitudes so that it avoid being hit by it. only to be picked off by fighters like sitting ducks. Bravo sir! The need to self TC is bigger than any aqal.

.
Send LCH close to RBS 70 than entire world will see what happens
the field trials of even more advanve rbs70 system is going on since many years in india...
the decision of buying rbs70ng is still panding , whereas hal going to get the lch orders...years of field trails ....dont you think they already test the system against lch ...
