•Mexico – Nearly 14,078 cases were reported. In some parts of the country, penalties may consist of a few hours in jail, or minor fines.

•Germany – Counts the highest number of reported rape cases in Europe, just under 8,000.

•Russia – Almost 5,000 cases were reported, and the crime holds a punishment of 4-10 years in jail.

If we go by the tourist volume then USA is ahead of China. Now if we look at the USA "rape rate"(Rate of victimization) its 0.4 per 1000.

So in in Chinese scenario it would be at least 0.4 per 1000 too (going by your tourism logic). Now China's population is 1.4 Billion.

At the rate of 0.4 rapes per 1000 population, absolute number of rapes in China would be 0.4 X 1,400,000 =560,000 rapes per year in China, atleast!

Data from USA is pretty reliable. Its from their Department of Justice.

Are we really discussing this? Rape is everywhere. the countries mentioned in the list are all reported cases. I dint know if a case is not reported, it mean its not Rape.

So we dont have any ground reality stuff to have a logical discussion for this topic.

For Eg: Indians have had the same amount of population, poverty, crime etc in past 1 decade. but Rape CASES have increased exponentially. It only means now people are getting vocal bout this which earlier was subdued due to respect of the girl related issues. these are official stats which are mentioned here and not the actual number of rapes happening in a country.

So better not talk on this subject and close the thread.

The fact that the quantity of rapes is increasing due to the increase of Muslim immigrants is in itself disturbing. As of 2008, Sweden's rape statistics were up to 53.2 per 100,000 population. Sadly, they are most likely higher as the Muslim population continues to grow without any willingness to assimilate into Swedish society.

What this report does not say is that

1) definition of rape is different among countries. In the US, if a man demands sex with his wife, she can file a rape report. Women don't have that rights in countries such as Congo or India.

2) Shame and blame. In some countries, the victims are shamed and blamed for getting raped. Hence, victims don't report.

3) Some countries simply gave fake data.


I just realized this article is from an Indian source. That explains it.

Some countries simply make rape a legal thing, where rape with minor, in legal tem cannot be called rape . Best way to improve non existant statistics.

This thread is not about China, I have no handy data for you, but I do know we are in the top 5 most visited countries and crime rate is low compared to the countries I mentioned above. Pls do not turn this into a china bashing thread.

China is not part of the free world. In addition to corruption, they have government sanctioned black prisons and labour camps where a victim can be banished to, if they let out any inconvenient truth. So you'll never know till they have a free media or at least free Internet.

The rape case reports are of course low if

1) women who report their cases get harrased, blamed, shamed and from society

2) marriage rape is legal.

There have been tons of studies that most often rapes happen within the family and circle of acquaintances. But since in India, marriage rape is not considered rape, the majority of rape cases never happened.

Here in Germany, most rape cases are indeed rapes within a relationship. We just had a prominent case two years ago, where a prominent TV guy was accused of rping his girlfriend. He was in custody for over a year and was later acquitted because the woman just wanted to take revenge on him for dumping her.

Gang rape, that seems to be the norm in India, is absolutely rare.
