Railways puts bullet train project on fast track

Wake up people。 You won't have a single mile of HSR before 2020 the earliest。

Fast track?It is a muddy road ahead。

We are not there yet for the bullet train.

Dedicated good corridor is the need of hour... It will give enormous returns to Railways. Sadly for last 8 years Railways is run by mindless freaks who have run it into grounds. Hate to say but even Lalu was managing Railways a bit better...

And HSR is not the priority right now.

The Indian government has decided to set up a corporation that will exclusively deal with the proposed ambitious high speed corridor project. I had been to china, and travelled in both chinese bullet train and other fast rains.

Nanjing to Shanghai around 300Km with only 1 Hour and only one stop. Awsome experience

Apart from that,
Shenzhen to beijing Fast train 21 hours
Shenzhen to GuangZhou @ speak of 250Km trains every 15 minutes.

In terms of railways we are atleast 30Years behind china

Indian Government fast tracks high-speed rail plan
The Indian Government is planning to introduce measures to fast track the development of a high-speed rail network in the country.

The push came at a recent meeting where officials decided that development of key infrastructure projects, including high-speed rail must be pushed through and completed on time.

“At the meeting it was also decided that mechanisms will be put in place for regular monitoring and problem solving arises while developing the project. The National High Speed Rail Corporation will be set up soon, which will exclusively deal with aspects like its tendering process and execution,” a Railway official said.

The 492-km long Mumbai-Ahmedabad rail route will be the first bullet train with a speed of 300 km per hour that will cover the distance in two-and-a-half hours rather than current travel time of seven hours.

The government also constituted a Project Steering Group that will meet each fortnight and compile a case for high-speed train projects through the Government of India Enterprise RITES.

The committee will examine the options available for implementing this project and finalising feasible options. It will suggest ways of strengthening the capacity of railways to design and execute high-speed train projects and mechanisms for quickly moving forward on chosen options.

Of the eight high-speed corridors, that will be developed across the country, the government decided to take the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail project on the priority basis.

The 492-km long Mumbai-Ahmedabad rail route will be the first bullet train with a speed of 300 km per hour that will cover the distance in two-and-a-half hours rather than current travel time of seven hours.

The other seven high-speed corridors which have got in-principle approval are Pune-Mumbai-Ahmedabad, Hyderabad- Dornakal-Vijayawada-Chennai, Howrah-Haldia, Chennai-Bangalore- Coimbatore-Trivandrum, Delhi-Agra-Lucknow-Allahabad-Patna, Delhi-Chandigarh-Amritsar and Delhi-Jaipur-Ajmer-Jodhpur.

Except Delhi-Amritsar and Delhi-Jodhpur, pre-feasibility study has been undertaken for all the corridors.

1. why ur back on fire??

2. It takes 5-6 years to build such projects when ur doing it for first time and don't want cheap stuff with regular accidents.

NO f-king plannning in Shining INdia. Damn its so obvious, these crooks I mean Politicans have no clue what they are doing. Damn fools every step they take reveals no long term planning in what they do. Its quite obvious India needs visionaries

Bloody hell. First upgrade the safety features in existing 1000km/r trains and then we can talk about bullet trains.

Dedicated good corridor is the need of hour... It will give enormous returns to Railways. Sadly for last 8 years Railways is run by mindless freaks who have run it into grounds. Hate to say but even Lalu was managing Railways a bit better...

Maa mati manush mamata...:fie:

I hope India and France can work together on this project as well, we have the worlds best technology in HSR and our engineers are very experienced and could also teach their Indian brothers in the process. I hope the people of India feel the same way about this, HSR would be a huge boost to India in the long run.

It is not one or the other i.e dedicated corridor vs HSR. Implement what was in the Indian Railways vision 2020.

1. HSR like TGVs in previously identified HS corridors and go for PPP but do not interfere with subsidies
2. upgrade current tracks to 160 km - 200 km.
2. Separate freight corridor
3. Modernize signals and braking mechanisms.
4. Upgrade coaches and most importantly improve the cleanliness of the coaches and upgrade locomotives to do 160 km - 200 km.

Google Maps to the aid of High Speed Rail Corridor

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has deployed Google Maps to fix a preliminary alignment for the proposed High Speed Rail Corridor (HSRC), 55 kms of which will pass through Ernakulam district.

Markings denoting the alignment have been spotted on roads and compound walls at several places in Kalamassery municipality.

Sources said that this alignment could be changed if necessary as the effort is to avoid high-rise buildings and heavily populated areas.

They said that the markings were done without informing the local bodies necessitating a meeting of chairmen of local bodies on August 4 to ensure the smooth conduct of the operations to fix the alignment for the rail corridor, a dream project drawn up by the United Democratic Front government.

The district administration has been given a sketch of the route, based on which work on the alignment will be taken forward. Land acquisition proceedings will be initiated after the State government approves the survey report, sources added.

It is learnt that local bodies expressed discontent at the way work on the alignment of the rail passage has been carried out so far.

The High Speed Rail Corridor connects Thiruvananthapuram and Kasargod and passes through 21 local bodies in the district.
