Here's the Alstom Prima from Sri Lanka. Dubbed M-9, the worst engine used by the Sri Lankan Railways. There was a huge scam behind this M-9 deal. However only 2 is running out of the 10 bought. Even these 2 are using locally modified equipment rather than Alstom approved ones.

27.A mg carbody type diesel locomotive built in 2002 by the DLW (India) for export to Malaysia. This loco is of 2300 hp, and is provided with modern features like ac.ac transmission, airconditioned cab and toilet on board.

This may have caused by the fact that this set failed in it's first run from Matara to Colombo and the fatal accident it faced. The general public don't know the exact reason for the accident but many says it was due to the faulty brake system. Though the blame when to the driver and the signals unit.

The accident happened due to 2 trains collided. If the two trains collided I wonder how it is the fault of manufacturer or brakes system?

If there was another train on the same track the other train should have given red signal at least a kilometer away. Was it done?

If the driver will hit the brakes on last moment (after seeing another train) the brakes will only work if proper distance is maintained. At 40KMPH or so one can't hit the brake from 100 meters away.

Trains do collide in India as well due to either visibility, signal faults or driver faults but no one blames manufacturer or brake system.

These same DMU's are used in India as well (with different gauge) and there are no complains.

The thing I like about Sri Lankans and Bangladeshi's is they can't make anything by their own and can't handle or maintain anything they have bought from India so blame the Indians for poor quality to hide own incompetance.
