There are less chances of india taking a Rafale deal they are more interested in F-18 SH on USA or Eurofighter in 2nd list.

Yaar along with these 1 or squardons of Rafale there will be FC-20 from china are you forgetting those and also our very own JF-17 Thunder will be there so no worries if we able to get Rafale somehow.

F-16 deal comes with spares, training, infrastructure, and wide variety of armaments. With F-16 program we will have about 90 block 52+ equivalent or less MRCA. 36 Rafales of 90 F-16s. to be honest i would go with the F-16s. But Rafale is still a requirement which should be full filled even if it takes to sacrifice some FC-20 and JF-17s.

rather I would like to add Power punch by any one of below to complement F-16s and FC-20 in strike role

yes i was flying a F-22 last night then i woke up!!!! see JF-17 is no where close to the GRIPPEN.....in terms of avionics as well as serviceability and armament.....

give the JF time we are not letting the fighter grow naturally!!!

In a ir defense role it will carry a new advanced AESA to be inducted by 2012 with mica WVR and metore BVR missles.

From my pint of veiw Rafael is 2nd favorite to win mmrca behind Typhoon.

Regardless of IAF its a must for PAF by 2015

Ya 5.1 Bn exact. I said earlier that PAF could switch to more modern jets like I still say we could get Grippen NG that was way way way better than at least F-16s that we are getting even now. But the problem is that this would create a Gap in the combat ability of PAF. With thunder in initial stage, Phasing out vipers would be risky which PAF wouldn't wana take as it would 3 to 4 years to get the 1st jet flying so that s why I think PAF went for MLU

It is not that simple to switch and with JF-17 we have control over the supply chain of spares etc.

Imagine EU putting a ban on defence sales to Pakistan with a war in process. We have seen that in 1965.

Technology of JF-17 is godd and it will improve over the next 2-3 yrs.
