Rafale D Semi-Stealthy jets offered to India

France had offered India its Rafale D Semi-Stealthy jets.

Rafale D - Currently Dassault using this designation (D for Discret or Stealthy) in the production for the new versions of Rafale jets for the French Air force, Rafale D jets includes new semi-stealthy features they had added to the design.

Also the Specification of Rafale D remains close for the outsiders for now.

Another Advantage for Rafale

Already operational Rafale M carrier-borne version of Rafale jets, possibilities of Rafale M jets may induct to Vikrant class aircraft carriers.

Enter the AMCA Project

Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) is a single-seat twin-engine fifth-generation stealth multi-role fighter being developed by India.

By Selecting Rafale D it will provide more benefits to AMCA, Indicating possible deals between Dassault & HAL on the Development of AMCA.

Main Disadvantage for the Eurofighter Typhoon

Eurofighter Typhoon program shared between many countries; also it will have a bigger impact for Eurofighter Typhoon if one partner pulls out from Eurofighter Typhoon program.

Latest developments in the EU Zone remain a concern.

Got the details in a recent friendly chat with some people from India.

I thought to share with you guys.

Thanks for sharing....I have a feel that India would go for Rafale and for that to happen France will sweeten the deal as much as possible

semi stealthy??? they might be able to reduce the rcs quite a bit for clean config, but as soon as you put all the external stores on - the rcs will shoot right up to around 1-2 m^2

Loaded rcs 1-2m^2 is great thing.

No, India would not go for F-35 and it has been announced already. It is almost 10 years since this MMRCA announcment. No more delays

indian govt has already rejected the offer of the JSF F-35.
Anyways there's no chance of the F-35 coming back as lockheed has been eliminated but Rafale-D has a chance since it is still in the MMRCA tender.

well it seems good , but wouldnt it increase the price of Rafale to above 100 million USD
currently Rafale F3 will cost us 87 Million per unit for first 18 aircrafts and 79
million per unit for remaining 108 fighters
currently Rafale has a clean RCS of 1 sqm even if these jets are updated to Rafale D standard , its
unlikely its clean RCS will be less than 0.25 sqm , which will translate to RCS of 1.5 sqm at full payload
which would still be more than PAkfa/FGFA which will have an RCS of 0.01 with 4000 kgs of Internal weapons load and would cost us about 100 million USD each

No additional offers or modifications , apart from the ones which went the testing, as far as reports, until now .

Maybe a roadmap if any such offers.

The reason why F35 was rejected was that Lockheed Martin would have been unable to deliver it before 2018 and we would not get the level of TOT that we wanted
though its sticker price was another bummer with India would not be able to get more than 90 aircraft as part of mmrca should F35 have been chosen , hence India would have to add additional 4 billion USD if it wanted 126 F35
such a deal would have meant that India would also have to cancel Mirage 2000 upgrade
and our sqd strength would have been not more than 30 sqds instead of expected 34 with induction of say Rafale as mmrca

Rafale D transformation could be undertaken when Rafale if chosen as mmrca undergoes MLU in 2030
Iaf estimate that mmrca MLU will cost between 6-8 Billion USD depending upon level of upgrades

Hmmmm..... Things just got interesting. Dassault sure are going all out to bag this deal. You know what they say- a friend in need is a friend indeed!! Lol.
