On morning Tuesday, a Royal Australian Air Force F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet failed to take off from Amberley airbase after one of its engines malfunctioned.
According to local sources, two pilots have been forced to eject after a F/A-18F Super Hornet suffered an engine failure and takeoff was aborted.
The official press release of the Australian Defense Department said that both pilots are safe no other personnel were involved in the incident.

“Defence can confirm that an incident involving an Air Force aircraft has occurred at RAAF Base Amberley,” the Defense Department said in a statement.
“The aircrew of that aircraft are safe and no other personnel were involved in the incident.
“Defence’s first priority is the safety of personnel at RAAF Base Amberley.
“Defence will provide more information once the immediate actions associated with the incident are completed.
“The cause of the incident is not known at this time and will be subject to investigation.”

Yes but the question is why did the pilots ejected when the aircraft was merely Taxying.
As can be seen the jet just came to a halt .

Depends. I have seen a Superhornet parked in Bahrain for almost 4 years, it was a US Navy jet that crash landed followed by the pilot ejecting, happened at Bahrain International Airport. The extent of the damage is very much variable to having the aircraft repaired in time for regular ops.

Most probably aborted takeoff with fire alarms going off that prompted the crew to do 0-0 ejection.

Doesn't matter. If the aircraft goes off the runway while attempting a recovery, you're briefed to eject. This is very much the case for F-16s.

Bizarre you can see the burn marks from the ejection seat rocket motor around the blown canopy, so the aircraft wasn't going very fast.
Perhaps a nervous civilian pulled the ejection handle while on a joy ride. Same thing happened in France late last year.

Apparently it lost one engine during it's Taxi run.
Wonder if it was a nervous pilot who immediately punched the ejection.
We also know the incidents with Indian SU-30s where the aircraft kept throwing out the pilots.

Or a stuck throttle. First PAF Viper crashed similarly when it hit a wild boar and the aircraft veered off the runway.

Except the PAF Viper met the accident while baring down the runway at high speed for it's take off run.
