Quotes on War on Terror

I AM A SOLDIER.

I have gasped my last breath on many a desolate stretch of ground.

For you...all of you, the children who play in the parks, the mothers who watch over them,
the fathers who struggle to sustain them.

There are those here who have belittled and reviled me, who have made a mockery of me and what I stand for.

You, also, have I suffered and died for.

I withstood heat, insects and disease so the right to dissent would be yours.

I endured the pain and terror of battle and the maiming of my body to ensure that you might worship as you please.

I died in agony in order that you, no matter who or what you are, have the freedom to choose your own destinies.

AND I WOULD DO IT AGAIN because I believe in the ideals that made this country what it is today...FREE.

I love her with a deep and abiding love that transcends mere physical pain.

I AM A SOLDIER.

Pray that I will always be there, for if I disappear from this country, so will you. :pakistan:

Sniper's Serenity-

A green phantom stalks these lands,
A sniper weapon in a Master's hands.
Chamber a matched, perfect round,
Slide home the bolt, forward and down.

Stay detached, loose and cool,
Time your breathing, remember the rule.
Get them now, kill them clean,
before they can hurt another of our team.

The first dies quick, the second has looked,
that one dies fast, a third has booked.
Number Three goes down, sight on Number Four,
this one's for my Brothers, Brothers of the Corps.

Even now at home, I remember that moment,
the four of them and a young combatant,
I would do it again, once more with pride,
to protect my Comrades, the enemy has died.

Dedicated to those who have lost loved ones in War on Terror.

When I came home from shopping in town
A very faint footprint I saw on the ground
It was very familiar for not so long ago
You see, it belongs to the one I love so.

When the call came not many days past,
We had finished our new home at last
Together we planted the flowers and trees
To see them bloom in the Springtime breeze.

The messenger’s words cut like a knife
A bomb in the war took your husband’s life
I looked at the footprint, my eyes filled with tears
I saw the one I’ve loved through the years.

In the footprint some comfort I ‘ve found
It was not left behind in some far place,
And will always have a place in my heart
No matter how many years we are apart.

Someday we will be together again
In a beautiful land where there is no sin.
He gave his life so that all may be free
What more could he give for you and me?

A Soldier
Your Freedom he fights for you to keep
So you will be safe while you sleep

You condemn him for being wrong
Yet the Soldier always stands strong

While you have the right to complain
A Soldier will fight for you, in the pouring rain

While he leaves his family behind
They are never very far from his mind

Remember every negative word you say
for YOU a Soldier keeps terror and bay

While a Soldier he may die

While a man he will not turn a blind eye :pakistan:

The Rising, by Bruce Springsteen

(in memory of the firemen who died at the NYC World Trade Center on 9/11/01)

Can't see nothin' in front of me
Can't see nothin' coming up behind
I make my way through this darkness
I can't feel nothing but this chain that binds me
Lost track of how far I've gone
How far I've gone, how high I've climbed
On my back's a sixty pound stone
On my shoulder a half mile line

Come on up for the rising
Com on up, lay your hands in mine
Come on up for the rising
Come on up for the rising tonight

Left the house this morning
Bells ringing filled the air
Wearin' the cross of my calling
On wheels of fire I come rollin' down here

Come on up for the rising
Come on up, lay your hands in mine
Come on up for the rising
Come on up for the rising tonight

Li,li, li,li,li,li, li,li,li

Spirits above and behind me
Faces gone, black eyes burnin' bright
May their precious blood forever bind me
Lord as I stand before your fiery light

Li,li, li,li,li,li, li,li,li

I see you Mary in the garden
In the garden of a thousand sighs
There's holy pictures of our children
Dancin' in a sky filled with light
May I feel your arms around me
May I feel your blood mix with mine
A dream of life comes to me
Like a catfish dancin' on the end of the line

Sky of blackness and sorrow (a dream of life)
Sky of love, sky of tears (a dream of life)
Sky of glory and sadness (a dream of life)
Sky of mercy, sky of fear (a dream of life)
Sky of memory and shadow (a dream of life)
Your burnin' wind fills my arms tonight
Sky of longing and emptiness (a dream of life)
Sky of fullness, sky of blessed life (a dream of life)

Come on up for the rising
Come on up, lay your hands in mine
Come on up for the rising
Come on up for the rising tonight

Li,li, li,li,li,li, li,li,li

Arlington, by Trace Adkins

(Song to the USA soldiers buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.)

I never thought that this is where I'd settle down,
I thought I'd die an old man back in my hometown,
They gave me this plot of land, me and some other men,
for a job well done.

There's a big white house sits on a hill just up the road,
The man inside he cried the day they brought me home,
They folded up a flag, and told my mom and dad, 'We're proud of your son'.

And I'm proud to be on this peaceful piece of property,
I'm on sacred ground and I'm in the best of company,
I'm thankful for those thankful for the things I've done,
I can rest in peace, I'm one of the chosen ones,
I made it to Arlington.

I remember daddy brought me here when I was eight,
We searched all day to find out where my granddad lay,
And when we finally found that cross,
He said, 'Son this is what it cost, to keep us free'.
Now here I am a thousand stones away from him,
He recognized me on the first day I came in,
And it gave me a chill, when he clicked his heels, and saluted me.

And I'm proud to be on this peaceful piece of property,
I'm on sacred ground and I'm in the best of company,
And I'm thankful for those thankful for the things I've done,
I can rest in peace, I'm one of the chosen ones,
I made it to Arlington.

And every time I hear, twenty-one guns,
I know they brought another hero home, to us.

We're thankful for those thankful for the things we've done,
We can rest in peace, 'cause we were the chosen ones,
We made it to Arlington, yea, dust to dust
Don't cry for us, we made it to Arlington.

Dare They Dream

As if they are a swarm of bees, they move as one

Covering miles beneath an unforgiving sun

Uniforms heighten a feeling of unity

Bonded by convictions, despite diversity

Toting silence on their shoulders, sure and steady

Shuffling agilely ahead, guns at the ready

Tension mounts when the enemy lurks God-knows-where

Prepared to kill – such an awesome burden to bear

Duty-bound, they picture their loved-ones in danger

Bravely, they offer their lives to save a stranger

They deserve more than a pumped hand or nodded head,

Specially from those who would not stand in their stead

Afterward, fate offers a heavenly reward

A flag is folded and a trumpet sings each chord

Tears are spilled and families are ripped at the seams…

But who were they to keep a young man from his dreams?:pakistan:

Duty's Call

They march away with awesome might,
Brave men true , to meet the foe.
Their peek at hell just hours away,
By land, sea, and air they go.

Their banners high for all to see,
Cadence, smart, speaks firm intent.
Tie up the yellow ribbons tight,
The die is cast, they're hell bent.

They go with firmness in the right.
Standing tall, their future's stark.
They boldly go to find the fight,
Steadfast courage is their mark.

Lord, bring them back soon, safe and whole.
Back to those they mean the most.
To vigils kept with aching hearts,
While we stand our lonely post.:pakistan:

i do not know if this fits here or not just a one line quote something to remember i read it on one of the army post cards long time ago by bro sent it to me i still don't know the exact words but here it is.

"If we don't come back tell them we have sacrificed our today for their tomorrow"

Go in Peace

In times of war
And times of peace
There are those
Who make the ultimate sacrifice.
Most are unbearably young,
Some are older,
But all joined the military
Hoping to make a difference In their lives,
And in the lives of others.
In life
They bear our colors proudly;
In death
We honor them
With those same colors;
In blood or in spirit
They are family
And we feel their loss.
Husband, wife, father, mother,
Brother, sister, friend:
Go in peace-
You will not be forgotten. :pakistan:

He Proudly Serves

My son is in the Army
Proudly wearing his uniform for all to see,
He trains hard to learn his job
So he’ll be the best that he can be.

He’s sworn to serve and to protect
To fight for the God and country he loves,
To give it all he has
No matter the threat thereof.

He looks beyond himself
Knowing what he was born to do,
And each day finds all the strength
To dedicate his life anew.

He honors our flag proudly
As she waves her red, white and blue,
Remembering all that has been sacrificed for her
Each generation through.

~

He sadly leaves behind family
Hoping that they’ll understand,
That he must do his part
To protect the freedom of our land.

To help insure that future generations
Of which his own children are a part,
Will be able to enjoy our beautiful land called America
With pride filling their hearts.

~

My son is in the Army
Saluting proudly the country he serves,
Knowing he will give her his all
For no less does she deserve.:pakistan:

HERO

A child stood proudly on the stage
Beneath the summer sun
The boy had finally come of age
His childhood was done
He held the future near his heart
With one goal in his mind
And with that goal, he’d play a part
In bettering mankind.

He’d heard the stories in his youth
Of how battles were waged
In the pursuit of peace and truth
When world corruption raged
He knew that heroes lived and died
He understood the price
And with that knowledge, at his side
The boy did not think twice.

His family kept him secure
Throughout his younger years
He knew the pain one could endure
The hardships and the tears
When he looked back upon the past
Each memory at his door
Had proved calm days were meant to last
Whate’er life held in store.

The boy enlisted, after dawn
He did not bat an eye
He greeted the flag o’er his lawn
As his parents stood by
Then, the boy who, not long before
Became a man and smiled
Flew overseas to fight a war
With the heart of a child.

I will never forget the day
When I received the word
The child I knew had passed away –
I asked what had occurred
From what his comrades had surmised
My friend had saved another
And, I am not one bit surprised
He chose to spare a brother.

He always went into harm’s way
Uncertain what he’d find
To be sure things appeared okay
For his friends, left behind
In life, he was a tender soul
Who gave more than he sought
His selfless nature made him whole
And this was how he fought.

A child stood proudly on the stage
Beneath the summer sun
And eulogized the boy of age
Whose life had just begun
The boy had saved another man
His doubts had equaled zero –
A soldier following God’s plan
He left this world, a hero.:pakistan:

“The soldier, above all other people,

Prays for peace,

For he must suffer and bear,

The deepest wounds and scars of war.”

There is discipline in A Soldier
you can see it when he walks,
There is honor in A Soldier
you hear it when he talks.
There is courage in A Soldier
you can see it in his eyes,
There is loyalty in A Soldier
that he will not compromise.
There is something in A Soldier
that makes him stand apart,
There is strength in A Soldier
that beats from his heart.
A Soldier isn't a title any man
can be hired to do,
A Soldier is the soul of that man
buried deep inside of you.
A Soldier's job isn't finished after
an 8 hour day or a 40 hour week,
A Soldier is always A Soldier
even while he sleeps.
A Soldier serves his country first
and his life is left behind,
A Soldier has to sacrifice what
comes first in a civilian's mind.
If you are civilian -
I am saying this to you.....
next time you see A Soldier
remember what they do.
A Soldier is the reason our land
is 'Home of the free',
A Soldier is the one that is brave
protecting you and me.
If you are A Soldier -
I am saying this to you.....
Thank God for EVERY SOLDIER
Thank God for what YOU do! :pakistan:
