Quaid’s monument to be demolished in Peshawar

By the way if you are mistaking me for fake afghani and arooj khan as genuine pakistani pashtun then you need to know mine and arooj khan's were family friends in Qatar because we were same marwats. I dont mention it but my father is a beaurocrat and one of my uncle is in army.

Any pictures of this monument?

If its a statue of him then you know as per Islam we don't adorn statues nor was the Jinnah in any way happy about such things accorded to him.

So do what's good for the people, try to accommodate some remembrance of his - like a monument with some of his sayings would be nice.

Reading many articles here, I am really disappointed to see how people re-visit History specially one ethnic group in Pakistan.

Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan was a great freedom fighter like Jinnah and others. Why Punjabis are making him villain just shows the disrespect towards history? He was doing such a great job by fighting Britishers that he was praised by Gandhi and got the title as well. Remember those hate "Gandhi" and "Sarhadi Gandhi" should know that they praised Jinnah as well.

1947 was matter of referendum, Mr Khan does not follow the same ideology as Mr Jinnah. I, personally, dont see any wrong in such perspective when other religious institutions also don't want the same. Rest what happened is history but that does not and should not give separate identity either for NWFP residents (Not hand Picking Pashtuns) or Muhajirs who migrated from India.

As soon as Pakistan will understand started referring themselves as nationality rather than ethnicity. There is no need for such discussion.

PS: On main topic, I would say that statues are less important, development is must but I can never understand why Founder of nation's statue can't stay in beautiful park.

So you are in favor of what Taliban did to Buddhas of Bamiyan?

Thousands years old Buddha is not comparable with a 3 decade old Jinnah statue and of course no one worshiped that Buddha but I am quite sure there are many Pakistani who worship Jinnah and BB! fotos and videos are available everywhere!

:cheesy: Afghanistan is also an Islamic country lets start with Bamyan

But show me one person in 30mln population of Afghanistan that has been worshiping those Idols in Bamyan - idols in every part of Afghanistan is not built by today's Afghans they are part of our historical culture but you guys have built them and criticizing their demolishing so what makes any difference between Pakistanis and Buddhists?

.
Can't believe people are abusing Khan Abdhul Gaffar Khan here. So what if he opposed Pakistan. He was entitled to his opinion and had a good following.
The man fought British all his life, taught non violence to his supporters mostly Pushtoons, preached religious tolerance, spent most of his life in jail.

Given the kind of corrupt blood sucking leaders we have all over South Asia how can we abuse a person with such a spotless character? And yes, he was a friend of Gandhi ji so what? He learnt all good things from Gandhiji. If Gandhi is recognized as evil in Pakistan, then probably they don't know that he even gave up his life protecting Muslims and advocating for Pakistan.

No one 'worships' Quaid or BB, please tell me where Quaid or BB has been made into a deity? (flame bait, deleted :D)

What I have seen in developed countries is either they move monuments to a better place or an alternate option is used to avoid damaging or demolishing historic places or monuments. Where as in Pakistan this is what happens demolish it or destroy it, this is all because of racism & hatred.

If Gandhi is recognized as evil in Pakistan
Nonsensical assumption, speak to some educated Pakistanis then you will know better

oh really ? you were talking about idols and Islam and in Islam the date of the creation of those idols does NOT matter at all.

you argument is BS. either you apply your yardstick to all such cases or do noty come up with stupid opposition.

2. neither anyone in Pakistan worship the monument.

3. For us the monument is important dating back to our history when our founder visited the area.

Period.

You Indian abuse Gandhi ji for what? non other than non-voilence and support for Muslims and at last you had killed him for the same.

On the other hand we criticise bacha khan for his anti-Pakistan sentiments. he was an Indian tout thats all for us.

We are against renaming PAKISTANI assests in name of a NON-Pakistani bacha khan.

And so much so for his work for Pukhtuns well he was the one who droved hundreds of Pukhtuns towards Afghan border where the Afghanistanis slayed them.

Period.

Any sane guy would know the difference between 5000 years old Buddha and 30 years old british agent monument! Ok keep worshiping them I don't have any problem but you be sure that no one in Afghanistan worships those Buddhas and they were created by former civilizations of Afghanistan plus there are thousands of tourists visiting Bamyan's Buddhas what type of tourists come to Pakistan just to see jinnah's idol? If anyone had created Zahir Shah's or Daud Khan's monument in Afghanistan I would have said the something but Buddhas are our cultural heritage not any political god father!

I am surprised at how tolerant our mods are when it comes to people like yourself spewing nonsense and venom about our founding father, if you had even bothered to read any good books on Jinnah or the Pakistani Movement, you would not be making such insolent and ignorant posts.

Furthermore, the fact that you are not banned and still allowed to contribute(although your contributions have been far from constructive), shows how tolerant and accepting us Jinnah Worshiping Pakistanis are.

Shame you are so narrow minded.

You said "Pakistan is an Islamic country and hence it should destroy all idol structure"

Implying your logic, Afghanistan is also an Islamic country and it should also do the same irrespective of how old the structure is.

you are only against Pakistan nothing else.

2. FYI we dont have our national heroes monument for tourism but for honouring them. so for us Jinnah is supreme and bacha khan is NOBODY at all

I do not claim anything, I have historical facts on my side. Please find proof bellow of my ancestry, which existed long before your father or grandfather even existed:

1. My Great Grandfather's marriage recorded in the Barakzai Dynasty Genealogy:
i) Sardar 'Abdu'l Salam Khan. Sometime Chief Justice of Afghanistan. m. a Barakzai lady. He had issue, three sons and five daughters:
(1) A daughter. m. H.H. Amir al-Mumenin, Amir Muhammad Ayub Khan, Amir of Herat, son of H.H. Amir al-Mumenin, Amir Sher 'Ali Khan, Amir of Afghanistan, by his wife, Maryam Begum, daughter of Sa'adat Khan Mohmand. No issue - see Afghanistan (Herat).
(2) A daughter. m. Crown Prince Muhammad Musa Jan, son of H.H. Amir al-Mumenin, Amir Muhammad Yaqub Khan, Amir of Afghanistan, by his wife, Ruqaiya Begum, daughter of H.E. Sardar Yahya Khan, sometime Governor of Kabul.

So you see Mr. I am Pashtun because i speak Pashtu. My family history is recorded and archived as part of the history of three nations, Afghanistan, India and Pakistan... And i am very, very proud to say that i am PAKISTANI.

Interesting......as your family no longer speak pashto and are culturally punjabi so you should not boast about your barakzai ancestry as for any pashtun or any pakistan you are not an afghan/pashtun but only pakistani punjabi.....believe me for pashtuns its not the racial profile which matters, its all about speaking and doing pashto.....you can impress your punjabi neighbour in rawal pindi with these documents but not any proper pashtun.

Jinnah is highly respected please don't use terms like 'British agent' for him (this is flame baiting). Islam is not limited to Pakistan/ Afghanistan, figures like Jinnah and Iqbal are respected throughout the Muslim world (one reason being Jinnah's focus on constitution, something not common to historical Muslim figures). The other day Malaysia's opposition leader was lamenting that Malaysia was at disadvantage since they never had leaders like Jinnah to guide them (after gaining freedom from colonial rule).

If you treat statues/ pictures as shirk please be more articulate about it..

Its all about speaking & doing Pashto? Lets not get that carried away when Pashtuns severely lack any 'nationalist' spirit and in decision making their tribal identities almost ALWAYS get priority over their national (i.e. Pashtun) identity.

Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan spoke Pashto better than perhaps even your father who I doubt has any trace of Pashtun blood in him, judging from the comment you made on my ancestry about which I still expect an apology. He called himself a Pashtun by all means. You can confirm this from people like Taj Mohammed. Though this is unconfirmed by a good author there is consensus that his opposition to the Khudai Khidmatgars came because an ancestral cousin of terrorists from Afghanistan who probably spend their time on your pathetic little "tolerant" forum abused Jinnah and Pakistan in front of him... which made him disillusioned with Bacha Khan whom he had supported almost half his life.
Do note he was called lion of the frontier for a reason.

If he hadn't been against the Khudai Khidmatgars no one would have even cared to dig so deep in his history to know he had Kashmiri ancestry. But Luffy is not a name of a fool but a concept that can exist in anyone's mind, hence it was needed to turn him into a member of an enemy race or a non-pashtun

I gather you are talking about Abdul Qayyum Khan. Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan is a different person altogether, albeit both gentlemen are of Kashmiri origin.

Abdul Qayyum Khan can definitely be called the lion of Frontier, killing 600+ unarmed and peaceful demonstrators within few hours is a commendable performance. I would prefer to call him general Dyer of the Frontier, this title suits him more.

His ethnic background was not a secret, just as the ethnic background of Bilours is not a secret. Many non-Pashtuns were part and parcel of Khudai Khidmatgar movement, just as they are today an integral part of ANP.

Qayyum was a great admirer of Ghaffar Khan before his expediency forced him to to swimming with the stream, he left the Congress and jumped on the bandwagon of Mulsim League. He had even written a book in which he praised the leadership of Ghaffar Khan.
