What's new

Qatar - Sci-fi realm

Political decision, in order to balance Java and Non Java development. Making the country is not Java island centric, and also to tap huge Kalimantan island potency in renewable energy generation ( the islands has many rivers, big, medium, and small ) and also the fact that it is rich with raw material needed to make alluminium.

It needs 2 decades to build the new capital city and Jakarta will still be maintained as business and financial center of Indonesia.

Will it take 2 decades? thats a long time it could be speeded in 5 years

Our planning Minister said it needs 2 decades, which I believe due to pressing needs for other allocation. Jokowi will have ceremony of our independence day in 2024 at that city according to the plan, but it is just a ceremonial event during our independence day, nothing more, even Jakarta I believe will still be a capital until 2029 or could be longer if Anies Baswedan become President.

If the President candidate like Anies Baswedan become Presiden, then it can take longer since he is not that enthusiastic about the idea to change the capital from Jakarta into Nusantara, but the development I believe will still continue despite him as our President starting in 2024 that could last until 2034.

President candidate like Ganjar Pranowo who is the most popular candidate by now is rather neutral on this, I never read he is supporting Jokowi idea on the capital change, he is not critical either like Anies, so he basically, IMO, like many Indonesian, who understand that it is a long term vision of ours to change the capital in order to make Indonesia more balance in economic development and less Java centric.

Despite so, Java will likely still be very important, including Jakarta. A new law to decide Jakarta position within our Republic after its role as Capital is taken out will come out soon. Almost all parliament members want Jakarta to keep its special status, not surprisingly since majority of parliament members are actually Jakartan (people of Jakarta). Mostly they are businessmen/women.

The strategic development is not set by her, but rather Planning Minister.

He is in charge, he is Islamist leader, a leader of PPP (one of Islamist parties in Indonesia politics), our Planning Minister (Bappenas Head).

But of course, Sri Mulyani as Finance Minister will be the other important person as I believe she will be invited for any strategic planning, and she is the one who hold the money.

Sri Mulyani with handsome Indonesian guy :D

It is because we have so many pressing issues and needs that need huge money to spend. Despite 80 % of Indonesia GDP already comes from Java and Sumatra islands, where the most population are also there, but these very important islands of Indonesia still need to be develop further and developing this two islands will bring more multiplier effect to the Indonesian overall economy. And politically, majority of voters come from this islands, so our current and next leaders can get more political support if these 2 islands still get majority of funding.

Nevertheless of that, Kalimantan is also important, many Indonesian knows that. Less populated island with immense potency in renewable energy generation through its big, medium, and small rivers and as well as its rich resources like bauxit and agricultural potency. Since we are going to ban bauxit soon, we want to develop many industry who use bauxit as their main component of raw material. Bauxit refinery and alluminium industry is the type of industry which is planned to be Kalimantan main industry, along with products like paper and many palm oil derivative like soaps and others.

This short term ( developing Java and Sumatra) and long term ( developing Kalimantan and other islands) plan will be executed simultaneously where Java and Sumatra will keep getting more funding but Kalimantan and other islands development will also be continued. With this new development on new capital in Kalimantan, the pace of our long term plan will just be accelerated, but will not outpace the funding intended for both Java and Sumatra development even I predict it will tend to be like that until 2035, this is why the development in new capital city in Kalimantan needs 2 decades to be at least a decent capital city with adequate infrastructure and housing for 200.000-300.000 population.

The Nusantara city itself has land that is four time the size of Singapore island, it will not likely be completed even until 2 decades of development. Just like Jakarta, if the city will be a successful city in the future which I hope it will be the case, then all of surrounding areas will be benefiting from it and the city and its surrounding region will increase the migration of people coming from Java into Kalimantan island. It will help improving our demographic distribution and make Jakarta and Java as a whole still livevable and has enough land to grow while maintaining its current forest size in the island. This then will also help Java agricultural sector which is currently the back bone of our rice and vegetable plantation and production ( our primary food and diet ) to remain large and enough to provide this important food for our future generation.

Qatar is kind of overrated slightly it lacks natural beauty compared to Saudi Arabia because it still has that ancient cultural touch to it which makes it feel unique and interesting
