Q : There has been a rise in threats from Indian Government and Army quite recently, Promoting Escalation, How seriously does Pakistan Army consider these threats ?
A : Pakistan Has always promoted peace, we have been raising this issue globally and many countries have supported us on our stance of peace. As for the gravity of these statements, Pakistan Army doesn’t prepare as per statements, We Prepare as per our capabilities and threats, Not Intentions. Intentions can change overnight but capabilities remain the same. De escalation between 2 nuclear powers won’t result in good.
Q : Given the constant rise in Indian Military’s defence budget, their deals with multiple countries for weapons, How would you assure Pakistan Nation with the Army’s capabilities to counter india given the huge difference between our budget ?
A : We have a strong watch over India’s procurements and preparations, India ranks among top 3 countries with highest military expenditures, We are 100% ready to counter their Pakistan Centric capabilities. Our budget might be very less, but with the same budget, we gave them a tough reply in the form of 27th Feb 2019. We assure Pakistan that we are ready to defend the country.
Q : It’s been 207 days since the Curfew in IOK, Kashmiris look towards us for hope, International community has failed to take desirable actions towards the cause, How can we by ourselves take measures to provide them relief ?
A : Oppression inside IOK is a very big concern for us, Our establishment has raised the issue on every forum, The issue is being recognized globally as a flashpoint. Our country’s leadership has tirelessly raised the issue, However the solution is being delayed by International community. It is the job of our government to instruct us further on how to move forward with the issue.
Q : Regarding US-Afghan Peace talks, Have there been any fresh hurdles or delays recently with the “To-be signed” pact on 29, What can you share with us on that ?
A : Even though this is a Foreign office domain, I would like to share some important points. There are no delays in the agreement signing date, No hurdles recently. Pakistan has played a very crucial role in this peace agreement. The agreement will have very positive effects on the region, especially Afghanistan.
Q : When it comes to De-escalation talks, US and other countries come into the list, Could you highlight the contributions by these countries in this regard. Secondly, regarding Afghan Presidential elections, Talk of the town is that the relations between Pak and Afghan have been going down hill and getting sore. What is Pakistan’s stake on this election and How does Pakistan intend to Improve the relations ?
A : Regarding the Relations with Afghanistan, We have good and cordial relations with Afghanistan. Regarding the peace pact, It is in our best to facilitate this peace accord. The international community has played an important role in facilitating De escalation between Pak and India, They have a solid stance in this, Every point Pakistan has raised has been appreciated. Recently, President Trump on his visit to India also praised Pakistan’s positive role in promoting peace in the region. The international community such as US and EU and others are very much alive to this situation.
Q : Corona virus has reached Pakistan, our borders are very open, Our enemy is always finding chances to engage with us, How do we intend to avoid any such situations ?
A : Health minister has been tirelessly countering this rising threat. You might have watched Dr Zafar Mirza’s press conference of 26 Feb regarding the measures being taken to tackle the situation. Countries surrounding Pakistan have been hit by such cases. Our efforts are paying off. As far as military is concerned, our facilities are on alert, any Conferences being called on this regard, Military representatives are also being sent to stay updated. Military is always ready to cooperate in such cases.
P.S - Took me sometime to translate the statements appropriately, you can correct me where i am wrong.
