Putin vows to boost Russian military supplies to Vietnam amid South China Sea dispute

Russia is doing it for business and bring the vietcongs on even with their Russia weapons!
Russia is also using vietnam as a peg to balance the influence of the yankies in Indochina!

The stakes are too high to call it just a business.
Turnover between Germany and Russia in 2012 was about $ 100 billion, between China and Russia was about $ 88 billion, between Belorussia and Russia was about $ 44 billion. In comparison, turnover between Vietnam and Russia in 2012 was about $ 3.6 billion. However, the growth in turnover with Vietnam compared to 2011 was 20%. Russia considers the growing economic potential of Vietnam. Agreements signed during this visit will contribute to the growth of this potential and substantially increase our mutual trade.
On the political side Russia considers Vietnam as a future ally to balance the influence not only the USA but China as well.

Nothing wrong with Vietnamese Su-30MK2. Compare to MKK, it's much more modern, and can launch anti-ship missiles.
Yes, Vietnam SU-30s designed as maritime strike fighter jets can carry a wide range of missiles for different missions.

Thanks for the bold part. With Vietnam on your side, Russia not only gets access to ASEAN market, and becomes a major player in the high stakes game of South China Sea, but can counterbalance the influence of America and China in the region and beyond.

Your figure about Russia-Germany is a mistake:

China is currently Russia's largest trading partner, with the trade volume between the two countries reaching 88.16 billion U.S. dollars in 2012.

China-Russia trade volume to hit 100 bln USD in 2014 - Xinhua | English.news.cn

We are well aware of that. Who has a doubt about your intentions of selling weapons to india, vietnam et al?

Have u written something on the walls that we fail to see?

Russia is simply looking to make a quick buck, they need to diversify their economy away from being solely a producer of gas if they don't want to be choked by Western sanctions. But as 1979 shows, they won't help you in a real shooting war

Bhutan and Maldives ... They don't hold a candle to Pakistan-BD-SL.

But then Pakistan-BD-SL can't hold anything to Japan and South Korea

India is making way for some serious connection, I believe if push come to shove, they will even look up to the US...

1. Mutual trade turnover between Russia and Germany in 2012. reached $ 104-105 billion, said Economic Development Minister Andrei Belousov at a conference in Germany.
Вести Экономика ― Взаимный товарооборот РФ и Германии достиг $105 млрд
Trade turnover between Russia and China this year, presumably to remain at 2012 level with the figure of $ 88 billion. To increase it to $ 100 billion next year we have to try hard, said China's Ambassador in Moscow Li Hui at a press conference in agency "Interfax".

Germany, the Netherlands and China are major trading partners of Russia, the difference in numbers is not essential.
2. Distorted Chinese view to Russian policy. I tried to fix it but apparently with no success.
3. Offtopic.

The alliance of Russia and Vietnam is more toward politic term. Vietnam offers little economic return when compare with Europe and China. Though, alliance often base on politic instead. Russia as well as U.S. and other regional power such as India, all interested in a piece of Pacific Rim, as this region will become crucial for more than 60% of world trade flow. Countries who wish to become super power wont want to miss the train. Perhaps, WWIII will start from here.

It's a great power game move so got nothing for us to worry about.

Russia can sell as much weapon to Vietnam as it like. Nothing really concern China about that. Vietnam have a sovereign right to buy what it like.

China also didn't complaint at all when when Russia sell weapon to India or US sell weapon to Japan/Korea. Because China knows the best way to defend its security and sovereignty is to keep advance technologically and economically. In these aspects, China is doing pretty well.

NOOOO... because you can't do Shiat about it??? Russians are exploring oil in SCS what you have to say about it??

How many people does Japan have? 127 million. China has over TEN times that. Talk about a mouse going up against a cat. :woot:

Yaaa that's why the tiny country Humiliated China for years

How about America be cut off from the rest of the world, as it was from 20,000 BC to 1492 AD? :-) America is SO far away from the rest of the world. :usflag:

Americans are already turning inward with isolationism. :-)

Haaaa it's like someone is talking with a 6 year old kid... grow up Population doesn't matter... Go read a book

hope Russia soon will allow VN to produce Su-30, Su-35

Creating a fighter jet isn't easy, especially the engines.

To be honest, I don't see Vietnam as a high-tech weapons manufacturer like China. Even with help from Russia, Vietnam won't produce much, since Vietnam isn't strongly industrialized.

I think Vietnam should just buy, since this will benefit for your ally.

Even the jet engine for 4th gen ... China cannot make properly.
Vietnam lower tech, so we would need the technology transfer from the USA, Russia ...
and we respect their intellectual properties.

That's what you dream of ,, China ?

Never the USA transfer anything to you, try to steal from them, ok?

Please fix your grammar before arguing. Your post doesn't make sense.

And anyway, the US did send some weapons to China during the 80's. Please learn some history before posting garbage. You must be jealous because China makes hi-tech weapons, while Vietnam doesn't.

Also, making a jet engine isn't easy. China has made WS-10 jet engine, while Vietnam can only make canoes.
