Putin thanks India for its stand on Ukraine

To be precise, he is thanking us for not taking a stand on Ukraine. Like towards any other international conflict that doesn't affect us, our policy is to have no policy at all.

If Ukraine had somehow managed to prevent Russia from taking Crimea, Ukraine would have been thanking us for the very same ''stand''.

No its not like that.
National Security Adviser Shivshankar Menon gave a clearer indication of where India’s sympathies lied when he said in reply to a question, “There are legitimate Russian and other interests involved and we hope they are discussed and resolved.”
Actually we irritate Ukranian diplomats in India and they also turn against us

dont know why im starting to like this man Putin:happy:

wish we could have leaders like him in Pak:argh:

You must also consider the leverage of that country.Russia is a great power or some extent a superpower. And they can move without outside help.Vladmir Putin is the president of that country.Even Chinese leaders cant show such a confidence.

Indians are changing because of Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade arrested in US to show some love on Russia, they suddenly became anti-West due to this sensitive incident.

''Legitimate Russian and other interests''.

Right, because before the Devyani Khobragade incident, Indians were so anti Russia.

No.Whatever US try to show their friendship ,we dont trust them, but we may keep a good trade relation like China -India trade. We know what they do against us in past decades.
But Russia is a country that help us at our difficult time.Indo-Russian relationship is entirely different case.

''Legitimate Russian and other interests''.

These shows more weightage.Otherwise Ukranian embassy will calm and quiet

Indian Foreign Policy, when caught in the middle, is best described by a quote of Narasimha Rao...'We have, currently, taken the decision, that, we are not taking a decision'.

Who are we ????????? BANIYAAAAAAAAAAAAAS !!!!

Which is why it is such a great policy :D

However on a more serious note India resisted US pressure to side with it and showed support to Russia by refusing to take a stand against it.

Maybe Devyani's second indictment had something to do with US displeasure :P ........ time will tell.

With or without the DK issue, it is unlikely that India would openly take a stand against Russia to please the US. Too much at stake. We even try not to take a stand against Iran if we can avoid it - and Russia is several times more important to us that Iran is.

Err,You are mistaking Pakistan's attitude towaard's west with India. We were pro-USA or pro-West in the first place.Trade wars with America and recent incidents of diplomatic struggle with Italy conforms that.

Its a fact. Putin is the most corrupt Politician in the world.

Like other Central Asian Republics, he has bribed Crimea. From here he will continue to set up his business to make more Billions

When did the US pressure India over Crimea?

How did you arrive at conclusion that Modi stands for Nation ?

He has had no opportunity to do so ...so far he has just done the talking ....
we shall see once he gets power ...whether he will keep nation above all ..all keeps himself above nation ....

It's like Obama being given Nobel peace prize before he had achieved anything tangible that could come any closer to word " PEACE "

Not arriving to any conclusion yet, yes we have to give him a chance only then we will get to know.

But the thing is that in today's condition, he is the BEST BET. If you think that India has any other option than I am all ears for it.

Please, if you dont know what you are talking about just dont do it... looks really stupid.

India always had great relations with Russia and the USSR before the Cold War ended.

India supporting Crimea's right of self determination while not respecting same right for people of Kashmir even though there is UN Resolution on it. Height of Hypocrisy
