By all my understanding of Putin's reactions with regard to Ukraine and NATO, also with regard to WWII, renaming a city to Stalingrad is just silly. Not because it's Stalin, but because changing a city with a historical name into something like Ho-Chi-Minh (Saigon) city or Karl-Marx-Stadt (Chemnitz) most often sound stupid, unless it's a completly new city like St. Petersburg or Friedrichstadt (at that time a new district in Berlin).
