The Paragraph on Defence cooperation emphasises DEEP MUTUAL TRUST

11. Defence cooperation between India and Russia is founded on deep mutual trust and promotes wider peace and security. The two countries have already moved to a phase of joint design and development of defence systems. The sides recognize the virtually unlimited opportunities for enhancing this cooperation, increasingly based on joint research and development, joint manufacturing, technology sharing and collaborative research in futuristic technologies, in accordance with existing agreements on military-technical cooperation. To this end, India has permitted foreign direct investment in the defence sector up to 49 per cent. The sides will exploit these opportunities optimally and enrich bilateral interaction through regular joint military exercises, training in each other's services institutions and institutionalized consultations between the armed forces.

I guess the Pakistani plans for buying Su 35 and S 300 will have to wait for
many many years :p:

Well according to news the choppers are meant for both Indian armed forces and export. It is a fair decision by Russia from business perspective. This will help them in bringing down production costs. But they should have to partner with private firm for better outcome.
KA-226 T Sergei is a very good chopper for high altitude operations with service ceiling of more than 20,000 ft. I like it because it uses French Turbomeca Arrius engine instead of less reliable Russian engines.

Having a chopper from the US and another from Russia means you will need two distinct supply and maintenance systems.

we already have supply and maintained system for russian chopper for decades now.

we are buying apaches with hellfires and all so anyways new supply and maintenance system needed

NEW DELHI: Following is the full text of joint statement issued after 15th Annual India-Russia Summit.

Druzhba-Dosti: A Vision for strengthening the Indian-Russian Partnership over the next decade

1. The President of the Russian Federation, H.E. Mr. Vladimir V. Putin, paid an official visit to India on December 11, 2014 at the invitation of the Prime Minister of the Republic of India, H.E. Mr. Narendra Modi, for the 15th Annual Summit between the two countries. During the Summit, the leaders agreed on a vision for strengthening the India-Russia partnership over the next decade. Recognizing that the special and privileged strategic partnership between India and Russia has been built on the strong foundation of mutual trust, bilateral understanding and unique people-to-people affinities, the leaders emphasized that the time has come for a significant broad-basing of bilateral cooperation to carry the friendship between the countries to a qualitatively new level.

2. India deeply values the monumental contributions made by Russia to India's developmental and defence needs in second half of the twentieth century. The Declaration on Strategic Partnership of 2000 and the Annual Summits it initiated, have allowed the two countries to redefine and strengthen their partnership in the twenty-first century.

3. The leaders expressed confidence that a strong bilateral strategic partnership advances the national interests of the two countries and contributes to a more stable and secure world order. The two countries have resolved to strengthen this partnership over the next decade through concrete initiatives in diverse areas and to make the bilateral institutional dialogue architecture more result-oriented and forward-looking. While both leaders will continue to meet on the margins of multilateral events, the Annual Summits will review and supervise the progress in the realization of this vision for India-Russian partnership.

These above statements are very positive and also looking from the Body language
of the two leaders it looks like India has NOT only been ABLE to save its friendship with Russia
but also managed to strengthen it despite some serious " poaching " attempts by Pakistan

The use of the phrases like
" deep mutual trust ", " national interests ", " bilateral understanding"
" special and privileged partnerships " are very significant and are a pointer towards
the GOOD days ahead for India Russia friendship

one hand they are offering/selling Mi-35 to Pakistan and Mi-28 too is in the horizon on the other hand they are offering Helli manufacturing and export opportunity for India .dynamic policy by Russian they don't want to lost any former or new client .

I don't care for body language,,there was nothing significant in this visit at all apart from the nuclear reactors.
FGFA needed to be signed.

This is same as China sell weapons to both BD and Burma at same time

10 years minimum. as ioc not achieved yet

Now this is borne out of ignorance.

LCA took time to get IOC because Airforce demanded a lot of modifications in LCA, and kept changing specifications. Even now IAF is not satisfied by LCA-I and has to be strongarmed by defence ministry in order to accept limited no of Tejas-I. IAF considers Tejas mkII as proper aircraft to fulfill it's point interceptor needs.

LCH on other hand has been accepted by IAF and IA as it is. They have not demanded any change in specifications and have placed large orders for it.

The induction time for LCH would be much much shorter than LCA. It would attain IOC by the mid 2015 and probably attain FOC in 4-5 years..

Complex agreements need TIME to be worked out to the satisfaction of Both parties

Once the basic committment in the relationship is strong
everything can be worked out

This was NO ordinary trip
It was under the shadow of a new found friendship of Russia and Pakistan

I think a lot of time has been spent giving commitments AND clearing misunderstandings
at the Highest level of both the countries

ALL other agreements will flow from here
