What's new

Putin and Modi have agreed on licensed production of a Russian attack helicopter in India

Russia and india:crazy: signed some projects including nuclear reactors

but india forcing china to stop projects in Pakistan:pakistan:, srilanka, Bangladesh, maldeep and miyanmar. . . .
GOOD JOKE IN LOK SABA. . .:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

We only asked them to stop Projects in Azad Kashmir not Entire Pakistan or even other nations of South Asia that would be stupid since we are inviting Chinese Investments over here

Frankly how I see it is GOI has said Bye Bye to all domestic industrial projects. From now onwards India would become a country where all the foreign products would be manufactured / assembled. This would allow the low end TOT that only requires few specialised persons and lots of unskilled labour.

i still dont believe this deal will ever happen
i will believe it until news comes out of Indian horse mouth..

Its not on drawing board at the moment like LUH:devil:
First flight 2015 (scheduled)
Status Under development

you know it better than me..

how long will it take for the first Ka 226t copter to be rolled out from India - AFTER selection of private company, identifying the vendors, setting up the industry, 3- 5 years?

how long do u think the same will take for the LUH ? HAL has selected the location for setting up the industry..
what do you think the difference between two will be??

from the ground run of LCH to its IOC ie 2010 to 2015 = 5 years
this includes major modification from TD2 - 3
and weapons integration..

how long do think it will take for simple light LUH which is almost like dhruv, 3 years max?
in fact HAL has doubled its efforts wrt LUH after Arun Jaitley went there..

so there is no real difference in the timeline..
except for dual engine, versatility and matured platform, there is no real significant advantage..
we are not talking about splitting the deal btw HAL 197 and Ka 226,
its totally gifting 400+ copters to kamov, after cancelling the international tender, where it has lost the bid.

now people are talking in 1000s, when LUH comes it becomes 197, that too not sure now
this is total BS man ..

i am not believing it..

russia offered full manufacture of mig 35, if MMRCA tender is cancelled.
Russia offered NEW tank if our FMBT project is cancelled.
now what? LUH at this stage?

i dont buy civilian players can buy ka 226, why cant they buy LUH?

why not manufacture our LUH in 1000s in two separate lines from HAL and private company..

I will hate :mad:and curse BJP:pissed: all my life if this deal goes through..

No major deals signed off in Putin's Delhi visit - IHS Jane's 360

We Russia and India can cooperate in multiple fields

Civilian passenger jets , MTA, FGFA
Ammunition , rockets

not on something where we have reached self sufficiency level ..
this is like Sweden offering Gripen if LCA put to rest..

russia offered full manufacture of mig 35, if MMRCA tender is cancelled.
Russia offered NEW tank if our FMBT project is cancelled.
now what? LUH at this stage?

1)Mig-35 is a dud and will never be selected,,,zhuk-ae is far below the competing aesas. So do not worry.
2)Armata mbt should be very very good indeed,,,,,no harm in getting some numbers by the time we develop the fmbt.
3)For luh all depends on HAL,,if they can deliver something in 3-4 years it will be selected,,don't worry.

Anyone who has done engineering will agree with what i say,,,no data is needed.
There is a reason we can't make shit in india.

Please talk about yourself. Not all will agree with you as it goes that i am an engineering graduate myself.
What you have said means either you are not an engineer or you did not study properly to even acquaint yourself with basic engineering in your selected stream to build upon that, when an opportunity is presented.

Yes there is a reason why we can't make shit in india and that is not the lack of a utopian educational policies or 'useless' engineers with paper degrees.

Where are u doing it from/did it from.??

I understand you will make it college specific. IIT graduates- good, NITs- alright, Private- waste. It is actually quite fashionable to criticise colleges, professors, lack of research culture, 'system' and what not in our country, something which amuses me no end. I graduated from IITB in 09, my bro from IITK in 11, and i have a cross section of friend from NITs and govt. colleges. 2 of them IAS now, many in consulting, a lot abroad. Some system eh

No,,i would say the opposite.
If u look at my 1 st post i said look at condition of colleges apart from IIT'S AND NIT'S:D.
My own brother graduated from niit.

Even u know well enough whats the condition of majorty of private colleges.I need not make a mess here.

Your dream may not come true . . . Sleep again.

Feel the same for a lot of the reasons you pointed out as well, but mainly because it works against what the new government stood for so far by fielding competitions and favouring team ups with the privat industry. This deal if true, would be mainly a political deal, since they select helicopters without a tender, nor an industrial team up to provide a joined bid.
Wrt the Ka226, it makes no sense for India, neither for the forces, since it's a twin engine helicopter more similar to Dhruv than to the single engine LUH the forces aimed to, nor will it have ANY success on the civil market, since a twin engine coax Russian helicopter simply is more costly to operate than western counterparts with a normal design and a wide customer base. Not even Russia buys this helicopter in large numbers and even in Indian forces the TOTAL required numbers for LUH below Dhruv are between 400 and 500 (for IA, IAF, IN), which already includes the around 190 planned orders for HAL's LUH. That alone makes the speculated numbers not possible and would require even to cancel HAL's development in the first place and it would be interesting to see, how the government that is boasting about self reliance is, justifying more foreign helicopters by cancelling indigenous developments.
The only reason a political deal for these helicopters could be justified is, if we would get something important from Russia in return (US nuclear pact => C17 political deal without competition or evaluation), but so far nothing hints to a game changer deal between Russia and India. As some articles said, most of the important things that must be cleared soon (FGFA, MTA, Brahmos M, MKI upgrade) were not done during this visit and nothing really important came out of it.
