Pushing back against China's One Belt One Road, India AND Japan build strategic 'Great Wall'

So petty

This is likely why South Asia is the most poverty-stricken place in the world. Because it is overshadowed by a beastly dog in the manger with a cheap crab mentality who routinely cuts off its nose (and the noses of its neighbors) to spite its face. Living next to India must be utter suffering.

Anyway, if you can provide quality infrastructure to other Asians in need, then we can only cheer you on. Don't think for a moment that you're scoring points against us in an imaginary rivalry existing only in your mind (in our mind, you're not remotely on our level). We don't lose when other Asians win.

. .
Take my Advise ; save your country FIRST
There is Still TIME left

Who knows 20 years from Now you would Revolt against your Chinese masters
and ask " India " to Help You
They can't, the projects make the Chinese deeply involved in Pakistan economically. Let's just see how this pans out. Both countries are ranked worst in corruption, now that this is a great opportunity ;)

.
They are Pakistanis talking on Pakistani TV

Secondly Khurram Hussain and Farrukh Saleem Are Pakistani economists
And that proves what, exactly? "your side is saying it, so it must be true" is basically the logic here.

The report is there for you yourself to see. Also, go back to the comment you quoted, I added a few more lines for context.

May be you should look into HK and Taiwan before worrying about South Asia:P

You said they were ranked as the worst, that doesn't look like the worst.

lol
Oh my god did I just read that? You know 118 - 84 is not a ranking two of you should be proud of. Given both countries are going to engage in multi-billion dollar project. Have you done enough to prevent the corruption?
Sirji you are a think tank and you are supposed to give a logical answer rather than 'LOL that is not so bad'.

.
So in short china wants you to remain a agricultural country which produce raw goods and material for their population while they export automobiles to you :cheesy:

Wouldn't it have been easier to stay under the British raj ?
Wow, way to jump the shark, that's nowhere near true.

First of all, China's interest in upgrading Pakistan's storage facilities, and product transportation, which Pakistan needs badly. It's said that up to a third of all Pakistan's fruits meant for export, tend to go to waste, due to poor storage and transportation methods.

As for the automobile industry, the lack of interest is from the Chinese government, not private Chinese corporations. JAC Motors of China has already said it wants to start a manufacturing plant within Pakistan, and this was reportedly done outside of any government to government dealing.

The issue is that Pakistan's auto industry is fiercely protectionist, and any new competition is often met with massive propaganda against the new player; A recent example is Pak Suzuki threatening to withdraw $500 million dollars of investment, if the government went ahead with plans to reform the industry and bring in new competition. Of course, Pak Suzuki didn't actually go through with the plan, and the government went ahead with the reforms, but the sentiment is very real, and not just exclusive to Pak Suzuki.

Really, you trying to play some sort of morality game is hilarious.

Also, you said "the worst", that does not meet the definition of "the worst".

Not to say that it isn't bad, but considering that India's ranking is only slightly better at 79, shows that you have no room to try and take a moral high ground.

[Edit]: By the way @SOUTHie , I live in Canada, and identify as Canadian. It isn't my job what Pakistanis think, say, or do. Quite frankly, high corruption is no excuse to try and build a better future.

CPEC is not a silver bullet, after all CPEC primarily focus on infrastructure projects, only help to build a foundation and reduce business risk and cost in some extent. Pakistan has to manage to build a private investor friendly environment to pave the way to prosperity.

I mostly agree, though I do think that some protectionist measures should be taken.

Protectionist are everywhere, China, US, EU all major economy players have. Every nation SHOULD protect its own industry when necessary.

However, it's a very small part of "private investor friendly environment" regarding whether protect or not.

Wah! What India has to do anything with CPEC. India's rank is irrelevant in this thread. You do realize that ranking of India-China-Pakistan are still under most corrupt category. It's still worst. I don't claim a moral high ground citing we ranked above or below China.
