Punjab govt signs agreement with chinese company for theme park and aquarium cost of RS.36 Billion

What people need to understand is that major cities need to be developed as tourist hubs, i challenge that 80% posters here will not be able to name 5 other cities in France(if not googled) apart from Paris, 5 other cities in Italy apart from Venice and Rome, 5 other cities in Spain apart from Barcelona and Madrid. Why? because these are the big cities which are famous and most of the tourist attractions are based there for the convenience of said tourists.

It is fair to say that our people are not mature enough to understand democracy or freedom of speech which is exemplified by our yellow print and electronic media.

Very well said Sir

Frankly speaking, I find these silly posts disgusting!! Disney is building a theme park in China and it is already being tested (majority of it is built. It'll be open soon in Shanghai). Guess what??? The Chinese LOVED the investment and Disney coming in. Where as a group of Pakistanis, ALWAYS cries, complains and moans, no matter how big of a deal it will be to the Pakistani economy.

Does ANYONE on here has ANY freaking clue how much money JUST Disney land parks in Orlando ALONE make????? A staggering $ 100 MILLION a WEEK in Parks and Resorts, and other associated businesses.

PLUS, about $ 25 million goes to associated businesses, just around Lake Buena Vista and Kissimmee (two cities that share Disney Land parks outside of Orlando), in the areas like Airlines flying to Orlando, local Hotels, Restaurants, Coffee Shops, Bus system, Taxi cabs, Laundromats, etc, etc, etc!!!!! And Disney has over 15000 people working in parks. Then you have people working outside of Disney in neighboring cities in the Hotels, Restaurants, Airports, Bus system, etc, etc.

Disney and associated business is what runs the City of Orlando's economy!!!! And overall, hundreds of thousands of people are employed by Disney directly, or indirectly.

Projects like these, provide serious amounts of revenue, and many thousands of jobs. Plus, in this case, you are getting $ 36 billion worth of investment. Why the hell be SO negative to what would help your economy and the country?????

This comparison isn't exactly correct. The profits from the Disney Franchise are directly injected back into the US economy while the profits from this park would obviously be shipped off back to China. This park will generate jobs in Lahore but it won't do any wonders for Lahore's economy.

Furthermore, large entertainment parks aren't really a profit making business. Disney is an outlier since it rode/is riding on its legacy coupled with the purchasing power of the developed world's citizens. You won't find enough people in Pakistan, willing to pay $50 - $70 for a day's pass, to keep the place afloat. Let's see what happens.

Disney is unique as it sells every thing from its own branded products to movies. This helps its theme parks busy year across. As well respective state governments in USA gives enormous benefits to Disney from tax to infrastructure development. Essel world and Fantasy land in Mumbai struggled for years even after having unique appeal to be first of its kind in nation as well big in terms of scale. One got closed and another got government support to write off crores of rupee of electric bills and free/cheap land. finally after many iteration of change in plan and extra additions in attractions along with enormous raise in spending power of middle class Essel world is kind of surviving.

Having theme park is nice idea, but instead of that investing same money into science center/ museum and other kids friendly activities like very good library systems will have more long term benefits.
