Pashteen gets to spew his venom and spends a night in jail; not exactly comfy but never saw a civil rights activist not get behind bars occassionally. Nothing out of the ordinary.

18 civilians were killed at Kharqamar checkpost by excessive use of force by the Pakistan Army. They didn't resort to violence then. I'd like to believe they will remain peaceful or they will lose support of a large segment of Pakistani society.

There are quite a lot of people in tribal areas with whom PTM’s claims are resonating. Their demands of investigating extrajudicial kidnappings are very reasonable. If the army and intel services have been doing this (which they probably have), then the truth of the matter should be investigated.

The army’s policy of dealing with PTM is completely stupid. Arresting and threatening protestors, smearing and maligning them and calling them foreign agents, cracking down on media that reports on them. This will only make things worse. You need to address their grievances.

Our establishment it seems hasn’t learnt a damn thing from operation searchlight.

And surely now that bit of criticism from me is now enough for yours truly to be labelled, Indian, Afghan, CIA agent. Leftist/liberal. Anti-Pakistan. Secular Atheist. Patwari etc.

I m for summary executions for soldiers who have broken law and tribals who sheltered TTP

We are lucky to be wondering in an age where the people who matter have agreed to play by the book and are willing to sacrifice some of their own for the optics . Up to now, I never able to comprehend that ' rule of law' concept of Pakistanis.
At home, they feel proud to break every aspect of law here in UAE they mew like cats.
Just consider or see the videos, when one caught breaking traffic law, when police asked for license/registration, how they behave.; here totally opposite, mewing like cats and following.

Thats not even their demand

In Pakistan it seems that anyone who criticised the army is immediately branded as a foreign paid agent, seditious and anti-Pakistani. That is followed by media censorship of that person, TV journalists are told to not report or interview them, and PEMRA then censors and forces compliance. Newspaper columns with anything seditious written in them are cut.
Some people are then kidnapped and later some of them claim that intel services kidnapped them and interrogated them. Others become silent. Then there are cases like Pashteen, he’s been arrested for sedition.

And it’s this heavy handed misguided justice and kidnappings that he was protesting in the first place. I know our media is not allowed to air PTM rallies, they have been warned not to, but the crowds are large and locals have their grievances.

Surely they can’t all be foreign anti Pakistan agents? God forbid that by cracking down on disgruntled Pakistanis you don’t end up giving them no quarter but to become anti-state actors, this is what happened in East Pakistan.

That was exchange of fire, I believe that soldiers have a right to weapons when guarding on check posts. Every civilised nation respect to such check posts which are erected for security of people. The calmness we are enjoying these days only due to the sacrifices of our soldiers. PTM is continuation of TTP and trying hard to retain the status quo to the bad old days.

Go to tribal areas and ask people. They’ll give you a list of issues themselves.

Broadly speaking, they were first pressed by Taliban rule, and now they are disgruntled with military presence. They also claim that there have been extra-judicial kidnappings.

Military deployment among civilian populations in every setting in history in the world leads to these kinds of grievances.

PTM‘a current demands are to address those grievances, particularly about kidnappings, and army presence. It’s why even our generals were talking to Pashteen and not maligning him earlier.

I have defended the use of force by soldiers on this checkpost amongst my friends but stopped after one of my pashtoon friends asked me if the reaction of Pakistani public would be the same if an incident like this happened at Lahore Cantt check post during a protest?

I was completely speechless after that. And that guy is serving right now, deployed at LoC.

If anyone wants to know what PTM wants, this is exactly it. They want less army presence and checkposts, clearing FATA of land mines, investigation of missing persons, end to kidnappings.

If you do analysis of all news feeds, at least one soldier killed and three injured. The firing from PTM prompted soldiers to fire upon.

Why removal of check posts? This is the main issue. These PTM thugs again want Pakistan to push into explosions and anarchy era.
