VARANASI: Activists of the NGO Lok Samiti on Thursday staged a protest at the district collectorate in Varanasi to protest the reported presence of a high level of pesticides in beverages made by soft drinks majors.

A day after Delhi-based Centre for Science and Environment said a study done by it had found high pesticide contents in such beverages, Lok Samiti activists smashed soft drink bottles and burnt effigies of film stars and cricketers who endorse the products.

They shouted slogans against the soft drink companies for playing with the health of consumers and demanded the cancellation of their licences.

There has been a big ruckus in the Indian Parliament over Pepsi and Coca Cola.

They still continue to have a high level of persticides.

I never liked these fizzy drinks and I don't partake in its "delights".

Just to be sure, I have also given up alocholic beverages, though occasionally I do indulge (one bottle) of beer.

I believe Muree beer is superb. So said my father who was posted in Abbotabad and Quetta and his friends too were nostalgic about Muree beer!

No Sir i think its only the government cuz the people are protesting over the Garbage products. And Sir if u remmber its i think the second time that there are protest against Pestisides in PEPSI and COCA COLA.

Why dosnt the government take some concrete step in this regard.

There are poisons like pesticides and insecticides available in the market too.

No no RAPTOR therez seriously this problem withthese sopft drinks.
These brand names just mint money and its time not only India but also in our country something should be done about the low quality of Coca Cola and PEPSI.

That might very well be the case.
The supreme court has aksed to submit the recipe to them and the ingredients mixture so that they can verify it.

This anti-cola cloud has been gathering around for quite sometime.

earlier they escaped narowly in the same issue of pesticides and then later their plant was almost closed down in Southern india bcoz o falling underground fresh water level.
