Pepsi And Coca Cola Pouring $1.4 Billion In Pakistan

No one is saying to put a ban. Force the company to put same markers as energy drinks.

Labels listing the ingredients and calories should be applied on all packaged products across the board. That is a good idea to implement.

But the basic issue remains: Should it be up to government to prescribe such limits or should it be up to the people themselves on how to best feed themselves?

It should be with the government, especially when the illiteracy rate is so high. 43% stunted growth are expected to make intelligent and informed decisions, nah!

May be, just may be, the government should take steps to improve food supplies first to such a deprived population? After all, soda is an addiction of the chattering classes, mostly.

PepsiCo is also doing Investment in Snacks manufacturing Facility

Spanos extended an invitation to Prime Minister Imran Khan to inaugurate PepsiCo’s new snacks manufacturing facility in Multan early next year. The state-of-the-art facility represents an investment of $66 million and is expected to create more than 1,500 direct and indirect employment opportunities for Pakistani citizens.

More health destruction.

But, as I said before, drinking soda or not is a voluntary choice. What is the problem here?

The ministry of health also has the responsibility for responsibly feeding upcoming generations. In fact this responsibility lies with everyone including you and me. Fizzy drinks like Coca Cola and Pepsi are hardly healthy beverages. If you have children I am sure you are smart enough to keep them away from this poison.

We don't want our generations to become a fat unhealthy and sick American generation. Pakistanis drink these beverages like water. We all know that sugar in extreme quantities is unhealthy. These beverages contain extreme amounts of sugar and other unhealthy ingredients.

Stop acting like a simpleton. This is not about choice and you know that too. This discussion should be about education. The best upbringing is to keep Pakistani children away from these unhealthy beverages. The government of Pakistan should take firm notice of such unhealthy companies investing massive amounts to a) earn more revenue and b) destroy the healths of the people. They are poisonous and harmful to everyone.

Don't ban them. Tax them insanely.

In USA they have banning sodas [in CAlifornia] and we are embracing a beverage company, at a time our food authorities have been found untrained and crap.

These sodas spiked no. of people suffering from Diabetes and other ailments. In USA same PepsiCo is making energy food drinks like Gatorade. Skeptical due to our pathetic situation.

We Pakistanis are masters of doing the wrong things and making the wrong decisions.

Western governments are also campaigning and educating their people to limit the intake of such unhealthy foods. The trend is changing massively. People are very aware of the damage artificial sugar causes. In reality it is an outrage we allow companies like Coca Cola and Pepsi to disease our nation.

it is the soda in combination with television watching, internet, driving in cars that causes the trouble

This is exactly the kind of investment we don't need. I'll only spread more disease in Pakistan making already lazy and obsese Pakistanis into diabetic patients. Both these companies are now struggling in the western world where people are now more knowledgable about healthy food and make educated choices in selecting what the consume. Fizzy drinks are nothing but silent killers. We should increase awareness about the use of these drinks in our country and restrict their sale to kids under 16 years of age.

Fizzy drink sellers must be made responsible to clearly state on each bottle pack, how much sugar it contains. Normally every 300 ml soft drink bottle contains about 9 to 10 teaspoons of sugar.
