ISLAMABAD: Scores of supporters for ex-Afghan intelligence chief Amrullah Saleh staged on Friday a protest demonstration outside the Pakistani embassy in Kabul, and chanted anti-Pakistan slogans.

“The demonstrators used abusive language against Pakistan,” embassy spokesperson Akhtar Munir told The Express Tribune.

General (retd) Esa, deputy to the former Afghan intelligence chief, led the rally to protest against the recent bomb attacks in Kabul and Kandahar, which killed nearly 60 people, including five UAE diplomats. The Afghan Taliban claimed responsibility for the Kabul attack but denied hand in the Kandahar bombing.

The embassy spokesperson said Saleh’s supporters organised the anti-Pakistan rally because of his “strong links with India”. “The diplomatic staff could not go to the embassy due to security concerns,” Munir said. The demonstrators dispersed after staging the hour-long protest at a close proximity of the embassy compound, he added.

Munir said the embassy officials contacted senior Afghan administration for security as the demonstrators came close to the embassy building. “Pakistanis have never demonstrated outside the Afghan embassy in Islamabad or its diplomatic missions despite terrorist attacks in Pakistan,” he said.

Afghans protest against #Pakistan near its embassy in #Kabul days after major attacks hit the country

9:49 AM - 13 Jan 2017

Pakistan maintains that the militants operate from the Afghan side of the border as they were forced to flee following Operation Zarb-e-Azb.

Weak security

At least 50 dead in bombings across three Afghan cities

Analysts in Afghanistan believe the recent attacks in Kabul, Kandahar and Helmand exposed the weakness of the Afghan security agencies as all the attacks were carried out in security zones.

Some Afghans also questioned the role of the Kandahar police chief, General Raziq, who disappeared from the guest house at the time of the suicide bombing in Kandahar. The UAE ambassador and Kandahar governor were among the injured.

Scores of protesters gathered outside the Pakistan embassy in Kabul on Friday to demonstrate against Pakistan's alleged support for insurgents, DawnNews reported.

The demonstrators also raised slogans against Pakistan Army's intelligence arm, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Afghan media reported.

A number of Afghanistan Green Trend (AGT) members held a peaceful demonstration outside the Pakistani embassy in Kabul in protest over Islamabad’s perceived role in terrorism, Tolo News reported.

The protesters accused the Pakistan embassy of being a “nest of spies in Afghanistan” and said the "ISI supports insurgents and had a hand in recent terrorist attacks in the country".

“ISI is responsible for the attacks. We know it and we have witnessed it,” Fahim Kohdamani, a member of AGT was quoted as saying.

The protest came three days after three Afghan cities, including the capital, were targeted by major attacks that left dozens dead and scores more injured. Five officials of the United Arab Emirates also died in the attacks.

Afghanistan Green Trend (AGT) calls itself a social, pro-democracy, anti-Corruption, anti-radicalism, youth empowerment organisation led by Amrullah Saleh, former Afghan intelligence chief.

A video uploaded by the organisation on Twitter shows a mob burning effigy of some military official.

Earlier in the day, the Foreign Office (FO) reiterated that Pakistan does not allow its territory to be used for attacks in any other country.

FO Spokesman Nafees Zakaria strongly rejected allegations regarding the existence of terrorist safe havens in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) while responding to media queries, adding that Pakistan has lost thousands of its citizens and suffered economic losses of over $100 billion due to terrorism.

The United States had earlier endorsed Kabul’s claim that the existence of safe havens in Fata allowed terrorists to carry out attacks inside Afghanistan whenever they want.

US State Department Spokesman Mark Toner had said that Pakistan had made "some progress" and had taken "some steps to address these safe havens, but clearly the problem persists".

Our government especially the military has a strong tie with the UAE Government it doesn't make sense that we will do it. And the blame games can Atomically go to their (UAE) enemy

No protest against American fathers ? They have martyred 35 civilians on the same day.

No no that won't happen because they are not men for that

I would believe in Afghan Taliban's statement rather than Puppet Regime.
