Sea crossing of Trans Adriatic Natural Gas Pipeline completed
The 105-km sea crossing of the Trans Adriatic Natural Gas Pipeline (TAP), which will carry natural gas from Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz 2 site to Europe, has been completed.
According to the statement made by TAP, the project started in January to connect the coasts of Italy and Albania.
Approximately 9 thousand pipes were laid at a depth reaching 810 meters in the sea connection passing under the Adriatic Sea. TAP's contractor firm Saipem laid an average of 1.2 kilometers of pipes per day.
Thus, a 105-kilometer sea pass of TAP, which is 878 kilometers long, was completed and a new threshold was skipped in the project. Thus, while 95 percent of the project is completed, it is planned to provide the first gas flow in Europe from the pipeline at the end of the year.

While BP, SOCAR and Snam hold 20 percent of TAP shares, Fluxys owns 19 percent, Enagas 16 percent and Axpo 5 percent.
