Featured Project Azm: Pakistan's Ambitious Quest to Develop 5th Generation Military Technologies.

Project AZM and F-35 are not related. AZM is about establishing industrial capacity of producing a 5th gen fighter air crafts. AZM is not the name of a fifth gen fighter air crafts.
But pak will design and manufacture 5th generation aircraft 100% locally, maybe we will select power plant from china or Russia

I have no knowledge what are planning for 5th gen. that info is classified. All I am explaining is project AZM. FGFA is part of AZM it is not whole AZM.

It’s good to know but we don’t have the expertise in designing and manufacturing 5th generation aircraft. If we had the expertise, we would not have to go to China for Jf-17B and block 3.

Best bet would be to invest in the required technology and invest in 5th generations program Chinese or Turkey.

The Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) has outlined ambitious plans to support its development of a fifth-generation fighter aircraft (FGFA) - otherwise known in Pakistan as Project AZM.

The PAC enterprise, which is owned and run by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), has established a new office - the Aviation Research, Indigenization & Development (AvRID) unit - to lead the FGFA programme, it confirmed.

The development programme is supported through Pakistan's development of a new aerospace complex - named 'Aviation City' - that was launched in 2017 to support Project AZM and other national military aerospace requirements.

"The office of DG [Director General] AvRID has been established to transform into reality the [PAF's] air staff vision… with the long-term goal of developing our own fifth generation fighter aircraft (FGFA)," PAC said on its website.

"[The] development of [the] FGFA would be a major national programme that would entail a massive amount of work, not all of which may possibly be carried out within PAC or even within Pakistan.

"Such large-scale development requires synergetic efforts from a number of industrial (public and private) and academic organisations to fulfill the enormous task," it added.

In order to "manage an engineering development programme of this magnitude", effective technical, engineering, and project management processes need to be established, PAC said.

PAC also outlined several specialist project teams that it will establish in collaboration with other national agencies as part of the Aviation City initiative.

These include an engineering management and support office, an Aviation Design Institute, a Mission Electronics Design Institute, an Aero Structures Design Institute, an Advanced Technologies Centre, and a Flight Test Centre.

PAC states that AvRID will collaborate with and leverage the capabilities of these various Aviation City agencies in undertaking Project AZM. "This [will] put together components of industry and academia to build a high-end research centre to enhance indigenisation capability.

Project need billions of dollars our economy is suffering by our genius economist we sud have somthing advance than jf 17 and this complex sud have been working on engines or more complex technologies, we are talking 20 years from now atleast.
education cities we need who will help our nation defence.

a real long haul process but in order to meet the long term requirements, this is the only logical way. Good thing is, PAC is not repeating the mistake of DRDO. They are not looking to reinvent the wheel. PAC will seek help from within and without to keep momentum in this project. Complex systems always take time to develop, so it is clear whenever a road-block like that will come in its way, PAC will evade it, some replacement system will be acquire with similar characteristics and that particular problem will be sorted out later on. No one thing will put the entire project to halt. PAC adopted similar approach with JF-17 and result was fastest military aviation project.

its not suffering due to our economists but due to a decad of zardari and sharif loot.

I hope we try doing more of this on our own, instead of sourcing more sub systems from outsiders.
Get an engine base going, even if its not the best then atleast have something. Get those air to air missiles rolling in, they won't replace AMRAAM's or PL-15's but they will be our own.
Make it a proper Azm and make it a worthy achievement where we as a nation advance to that generation in research and capabilities.

Even the Chinese are struggling with engines, and they've put in a lot more time, effort and resources. Given the limited resources available, I doubt a domestic engine will be a major focus in this program, outside of a technology demonstrator.

Something is better than nothing mate.
We can use the existing know how, take some help from Chinese, and come up with something of our own. Instead of taking our learning and always have the Chinese delivering it to us.
