I have lived in various cities of KSA for 17 yers. 1 line conclusion i can draw from talking to the locals is "we are better off with the kingdom rather then have a democracy like you have in Pakistan".
The Saudi King is the custodian of the 2 Holy Mosques and they have put in Billions of dollars in the renovation of that place for the Muslims all over the world without ever taking help from any other country.
The infrastructure they have built there is fantastic, a common Saudi has a decent standard of living. They have the oil and they have made good use of it, they have heavily invested in schools and now universities etc etc. the list is long and you can search it on the net that KSA has a stable economy in these times of crises and are heavily investing for the good of their people. Sure there are corrupts everywhere in the world but you have to do something for the people to survive as the govt.
Waleed bin Talal is one of the wealthiest man on earth and he has nothing to do with the govt. he started his business and became a sucess story through his hardwork, he is very well know for being an astute businessman. I am sure you can read about him on the net.
Remember once Moguls and Nawabs in Subcontinent had similar wealth!! and what they did with it?
