President Xi Jinping Visits Pakistan.

Long life to Sino-Pakistan friendship :pakistan::china:.

中巴友谊万岁! :china::pakistan:

If Pakistani members want to write the same thing in Chinese, they can just swap the first two characters (so it becomes Pakistan-China instead of the above which is China-Pakistan).

Like it is written in this picture:

I thought previous Chinese President visited Pakistan 3 or 4 years ago?

"This will be President Xi's first visit to Pakistan as head of state, and the first visit by a Chinese president in nine years," Wang said, adding that China and Pakistan are "iron-clad pals and true friends".

Chinese president to visit Pakistan, hammer out US$46-billion deal

Chinese President Xi Jinping will launch energy and infrastructure projects worth US$46 billion (30.80 billion pounds) on a visit to Pakistan next week as China cements links with its old ally and generates opportunities for firms hit by slack growth at home.

ISLAMABAD: Chinese President Xi Jinping will launch energy and infrastructure projects worth US$46 billion (30.80 billion pounds) on a visit to Pakistan next week as China cements links with its old ally and generates opportunities for firms hit by slack growth at home.

Also being finalised is a long-discussed plan to sell Pakistan eight Chinese submarines. The deal, worth between US$4 billion and US$5 billion, according to media reports, may be among those signed on the trip.

Xi will visit next Monday and Tuesday, Pakistan's foreign ministry said.

Commercial and defence ties are drawing together the two countries, which share a remote border and long-standing mistrust of their increasingly powerful neighbour, India, and many Western nations.

"China treats us as a friend, an ally, a partner and above all an equal - not how the Americans and others do," said Mushahid Hussain Sayed, chairman of the Pakistan parliament's defence committee.

Pakistan and China often boast of being "iron brothers" and two-way trade grew to US$10 billion last year from US$4 billion in 2007, Pakistani data shows.

Xi's trip is expected to focus on a Pakistan-China Economic Corridor, a planned US$46-billion network of roads, railways and energy projects linking Pakistan's deepwater Gwadar port on the Arabian Sea with China's far-western Xinjiang region.

It would shorten the route for China's energy imports, bypassing the Straits of Malacca between Malaysia and Indonesia, a bottleneck at risk of blockade in wartime.

If the submarine deal is signed, China may also offer Pakistan concessions on building a refuelling and mechanical station in Gwadar, a defence analyst said.

China's own submarines could use the station to extend their range in the Indian Ocean.

"China is thinking in terms of a maritime silk road now, something to connect the Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean," said a Pakistani defence official, who declined to be identified.

For Pakistan, the corridor is a cheap way to develop its violence-plagued and poverty-stricken Baluchistan province, home to Gwadar.

China has promised to invest about US$34 billion in energy projects and nearly US$12 billion in infrastructure.

Xi is also likely to raise fears that Muslim separatists from Xinjiang are linking up with Pakistani militants, and he could also push for closer efforts for a more stable Afghanistan.

"One of China's top priorities on this trip will be to discuss Xinjiang," said a Western diplomat in Beijing. "China is very worried about the security situation there."

So is this 46 billion dollar replacement of previous deals or addition of above billions deal, as they are investing in the same projects like before ? I read that karachi nuclear power plant is first of its kind and this chinese design never used before any where in the world and so there is a risk involved about the design and proximity to karachi.

Excellent, i hope Pakistan uses this as a multiplier to uplift the education and health sector. This is where I credit the Chinese vs Western aid agencies - Chinese get the job done.

I saw it in Tazara in the 70s when they build the railways from Zambia right to Dar es Salaam. I travelled on it on my journey across Zambia/Tanzania including getting derailed once. No western country was willing to finance it but Chinese stepped in to assist. One of the most beautiful train journeys i have ever taken. The railway is still there and running. The Tanzanian side is just god's window on Selous reserve let alone going through mountainous terrain.

Same right now right across southern africa. They built a 4 lane highway from Luanda to Windhoek in record 2 years - it was considered an impossible feat. In the field of telecoms and electricity infrastructure they are everywhere in Zambia, Botswana as well as Namibia. In Zambia, the 2nd most foreign currency used is not the dollar but the yuan.

This is the difference, europeans came as colonisers and after they left, they still parted funds in a colonial mentality; with chinese it is partnerships and putting infrastructure which matters. Yes, it may not be the top of the line but it works. They dont ask questions but work around the clock to move mountains.

Use this opportunity to boost start a long term strategic recovery and instill a sense of hard work, education and develop health care. I hope this opportunity is not squandered by the politicians for short term pocket lining gains.

Cheers.
