What's new

Post Internet Speed

Can you remind me what does the bundle include ?
for me its easy
free calls to landline and mobiles for one hour(before the hour hang up and ring again)
free calls to 0845, 0871, 0800, 0100, 0200,0300.
i have a standard box 1tb storage for basic free freeview channels (that came free, i only paid postage)
100mbps no cap
that came to £30 per month original price is £60. because i was due to renew they could not offer me the same deal this year it came to £46 per month. but for £1 extra i get an extra 100mbps so i took it. it was an extra £8 for another 100mbps (grand total of 300mbps)

It wasn't acceptable anymore to live in a pretty big city in a developed country and have internet speeds as if I was living in a cave in the Alps. I might rejoice,however there are areas in the country where they can't even have DSL. (Totalling more than 500K households!) So some use internet by satellite,others Wimax,others they don't have internet at all.

ISPs are somewhat accelerating the deployment of fiber and high speed networks,but good luck in deploying it in a large territory like France and in the country's 36K communes where 54% of them have less than 500 inhabitants.

Not very economically viable if you ask me. @Blue Marlin

Almost the same situation here. High speed internet is being rolled out gradually. Infact my town got high speed internet because there are two universities in my town and one of them is top 100 in the world. Basically there is a demand due to such high student population which pays the town it's wages.

Other regions are under a gov initiatives for high speed internet being rolled out. But it will take time.

Romania wins for high speed internet :toast_sign:

Fiber Optic-> 5Ghz WIFI

The speed will go up with time, when they rolled out fibre optic in my area the max was 50mbs and 7 years later it's peaked to 1Gbs. the 1Gbs is very tempting:agree:.

Ok,I learned few things ;

The maximum speed with the cable in my area was ↓30/1↑ before being upgraded to ↓100/5↑ in 2017. The provider is still upgrading the network and plans to switch everyone to ↓1000/60↑ by the end of 2018. (Almost 70% already benefit that speed.)

The positive thing is that I won't be asked any extra money for the upgrade. Let's just wait then.:victory:

That is not fair:disagree:. Almost a decade to get 1Gb speed and he gets it no time.

The French are cutting in :sarcastic:like this guy lol.

In London we have full FTTP via HyperOptic, it claims to deliver 1gbps downstream over a full fiber loop.
https://www.hyperoptic.com/map/

But I am on FTTC only which is good enough for me at 45 Mbps using a RJ45 and about 33 using wifi.
