I believe there is no reason for India to attack BD. However, India wants BD to be submissive to it, and provide transit to its NE. BD people are not ready to accept Indian hegemony, and the country cannot possibly allow a free ride through its land for security reasons. So, a tension always remains underneath the surface. Some BD citizens project the Indian attitude as a sign of a future adventurism.

However, BD really can expect a war with Burma because of maritime territory issue. BD must prepare itself for any kind of eventuality, be it an assault from Burma or from India. A forward air base in Cox's Bazaar is a timely decision by our generals - this is what I believe.

I believe, our generals have all the upto date information about our neighbours' military preparations. Being ignorant of the ground reality, we should not just criticize their decision only for the sake of criticism.

A war in India's immediate neighbourhood between two friendly nations both with common borders with India is definitely not in India's interests as not only do such conflicts give rise to the possibility of refugee problems, possible mass exodus, humanitarian issues and possibility of conflict spilling across borders but also tend to attract opportunistic extra regional powers with vested interests.

Stumper, you have surprised me by doubting someone's 'shortcomings on strategic debates,' when this same person has been bullying me all along that I am a GOAT (read sheep, because you are a Hindiwala) and that I cannot be a part of homo sapiens.
