Oh yeah, the city that sucks all the wealth from the rest of India. Of course it would. BTW can we keep the thread on topic please?

Ooooooh.....if only Wazed Uncle was around.....:-)

Why must everything be turned into a pissing contest, FFS.

This is only step 1...there is going to be a lot more work done on this, and even after all that work if it doesn't match what India has....so be it.

The world will keep turning....I promise.

BD's Miami?
No BD's Pacific Coast Highway. PCH is also state highway one for California. I think we can develop the drive along these lines. But we should plan things according to zoning laws and not allow houses or hotels too close to the beach. We should also make concrete piers every few miles for entertainment/ defense needs.

This is Malibu where all the movie stars live, each of the houses on the beach is over $10 million. Baywatch was filmed here.

Looks beautiful!

The govt. should take steps to ensure that southern and south-east Bangladesh turns into a tourist hub in the future. Have to improve the infrastructure furthermore, alongside security. There is a potential to generate lot of revenue through this.

CXB Runway upgraded from local level and can handle B737/A320 class twinjets for int'l flights now. Ground handling facilities and new terminal building still under construction.

Biman to operate weekly two Boeing flights to Cox’s Bazar

Currently, Biman only has a 74-seater Dash Q-400 flying once a week to Cox’s Bazar from Dhaka
Biman Bangladesh Airlines on Sunday announced their plan to operate two weekly flights with wide-bodied aircrafts on the Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar route.

Biman General Manager Shakil Meraj told the BSS that initial plans called for one weekly flight with aircrafts with higher seat capacities.

“After meeting today, we are going to move forward with two weekly flights – on Thursdays and Saturdays – from May 18 with a 162-seater Boeing 737-800.

Currently, Biman only has a 74-seater Dash Q-400 flying once a week to Cox’s Bazar from Dhaka.

“With the Boeing, we can offer business class seats to tourists for the first time on this route,” he said.

The lowest fare for a one-way business class will be Tk9,000 and Tk4,000 for economy class.

“Our operations will see an expansion in winter in the tourist season,” Meraj said.

Cox’s Bazar airport, constructed during World War 2, is only used domestically. Aircraft with less than 76-seats could only use the airport until the recent expansion. But the government has been working to upgrade the airport to international standards to make Cox’s Bazar itself an international tourist destination.

As part of the “Cox’s Bazar Airport Development Project”, a Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh (Caab) official said the runway of the airport was extended to 9,000 from 6,775 feet and widened to 200 from 150 feet that allows wide-bodied aircraft to use the airport.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the operation of wide-bodied aircraft by arriving at Cox’s Bazar on a Biman Boeing 737-800 on Saturday.

Caab sources claim 80% of the work has been completed, and hope to wrap up the development by 2018.

Aside from Biman, privately-owned US-Bangla Airlines and NovoAir also operate two flights daily while Regent Air operates one flight daily.

Ticket prices to Cox's from Dhaka are actually pretty reasonable. A/C bus tickets are BDT 2000 and the journey takes 9 hours. You pay double to fly but save so much time it is beyond crazy.

India robbing even more by virtually paying nothing for transit, so clear.

Just one part of liberation tax, so thats justified.

BD people accept it too....they love SHW and BAL. They are with the program now more or less.

Sieving out the jamatis and ultra-BNP nuts is made a lot easier now as a result and appropriate remedy can be delivered.

For fulfilling this 17 projects , BD will have need 17 years, Don't worry .
