Pakistan, Turkey to adopt common approach to regional issues

Islamabad—Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayip Erdogan’s scheduled visit to Pakistan on December 23 is expected to result in a common approach by the two countries on regional and international issues particularly Afghanistan.

To gain maximum benefit from the two-day visit of Turkish prime minister, Pakistani leadership is looking forward to sign a number of accords ranging from economic to strategic fields.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif have developed cordial relationship with Turkish Prime Minister in recent years and have encouraged Turkish investment and trade engagements in Pakistan.

Apart from bilateral agreements and understanding the two sides are expected to have extensive discussions on regional developments in South Asia particular Afghanistan and Middle East including Syria.

On Afghanistan Pakistani and Turkish leadership are expected to review the latest situation and formulate a joint approach seeking an amicable solution to 12-years old conflict. Pakistan is now eager to facilitate a lasting peace in Afghanistan while Turkey is keen to play an extensive role in bringing reconciliation between Taliban and concerned parties of Afghanistan. Afghan Taliban are now considering to open a contact office in Turkey.

Turkish Prime Minister will be in Pakistan on the invitation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and is also expected to meet President Mamnoon Hussain and a number of Opposition parties. It is also believed that the Turkish prime minister would also meet PTI Chief Imran Khan and will discuss ways and means to seek expansion of investment in KP as well. Other issues such as PTI’s policy on drones and NATO route blockade may also come under discussion.

According to official sources on the eve of Prime Minister Erdogan’s visit bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade, energy and investment will dominate the experts level discussions and the two sides would sign MOUs relating to trade and investments.

Turkish Prime Minister will be awarded highest civilian award of Pakistan in recognition of his services and contribution to the promotions of trade and strategic relationship between the two countries.

Pakistan and Turkey have recently agreement signed for delivery of latest radio telecommunication equipments. Turkey is building a 17000 feet fleet tanker for the Pakistani Navy. The two sides are also discussing a number of projects in aviation and air force. Defence Production Minister Rana Tanvir Hussein confirmed that Turkey was in interested in procuring “Super Mashaak” training aircraft. Turkish companies are also taking keen interest in the development of mass transport system in Punjab and other provinces after Turkish metro bus service in Lahore earned appreciations all over Pakistan.

Pakistan to double trade with Turkey: PM

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Thursday said that Pakistan would make all out efforts to double its trade with Turkey.
“We encourage investment by Turkish businessmen in Pakistan. We have stable democracy, vibrant judiciary and proactive media to protect foreign investment, the Prime Minister said this in a meeting with Ahmet Davutoglo, Foreign Minister of Turkey, who called on him here in Islamabad. During the meeting, both the sides exchanged views on bilateral and regional matters and the Prime Minister reaffirmed the importance Pakistan attached to brotherly relations with Turkey.
The Prime Minister remarked that Pakistan and Turkey had a shared vision in regional and global politics.
Turkish FM said that Turkey would provide all out support in international relations to Pakistan, a brotherly country, that was a rising economic power and country of future.
He said Pakistan, as an economy and stable democracy, was on the right track and Turkey would be happy to have a positive role in Pakistan becoming an economic power.
He apprised the Prime Minister that Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan would visit Pakistan along with a large group of businessmen to establish close economic ties.
“Turkey is at your disposal in becoming partners in this road to economic prosperity,” the foreign minister added.
He observed that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had made Punjab a success story during last five years and Turkey would extend this shared success of economic cooperation to whole of Pakistan.
Babur Girgin, Ambassador of Turkey to Pakistan, Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to PM and Foreign Secretary were also present during the meeting.

pakistan foreign policy is shitt anyway so whats the big deal here?
 
do we even have foreign policies?
I thought the only one existed was to beg for money...

anyway, im just looking forward to see more defense related pictures as i'm sure the PM will be given a tour of PAC, etc
