PM reaffirms to do everything for modernisation of Bangladesh army

.
Most nations go for the Su-30 rather than the Mig-29. Su-30 has recorded kills against Mig-29s. Su-30 is also a multi-role fighter. Price between the 2 isn't much, thus it's always better to go for the Su-30.
They're not comparable because they are in different weight classes.

MiG 29 is a Medium class fighter
Su-30 is a Heavy class fighter.

Consequently, there is a difference in their associated costs - and not just outright purchase costs but also operating costs and maintenance requirements which are all much higher for a heavy class fighter compared to a medium class fighter.

And yes, there is a big difference in the price of the two fighters now. Sukhoi's costs have syrocketed and almost doubled since 2010.

Don't forget the high maintenance of mig-29....
The Sukhoi requires even more maintenance.

Though I agree the old MiG 29's were ridiculously high maintenance.
Apart from that the new MiG 29 versions are compared to before much less maintenance intensive. They have had a massive change in equipment.

Weight really doesn't matter when it comes to the Su-30's manoeuvrability.

The new engines for the Su-30 also reduced its maintenance costs.

What are you talking about? Its not about maneuverability.
Weight is a class issue. It corresponds to what kind of
1.equipment the plane can carry, the armament the plane can carry
2.the range it can cover in a sortie
3.the maintenance time(on ground time) and costs(capital acquisition cost and operating cost per sortie) for the plane.

A Heavy class fighter has much more in points 1 and 2 but in point 3 it is seriously disadvantaged vis-a-vis a M-MRCA.
These are trade-off's that can not be wished away.
The new engines for the Su-30 also reduced its maintenance costs.
Yes, but also compared to its own self.

At the end of the day, a Su-30 will need more maintenance time(on ground) and much higher operating costs compared to a new generation MiG 29.

However I am agreeing with you that the old MiG 29's were horrendously maintenance intensive and their engines fuel-inefficient.
The new generation of MiG 29's however have changed all of that. A clear testament is the Indian Navy recently purchasing MiG 29K's which are purpose bought to fight and win against F-16 Blk 52's of the Pakistan Navy.

1. Su-30 has better equipments and can carry bigger load.
2. It has a better range, almost double of the Mig-29.
3. As for maintenance read this:
Archives | The Star Online.

A highlighted point from it: "The Government will save RM260mil ($75.5 million) per year in maintenance costs and these savings will be used to maintain other types of aircraft in the RMAF inventory,”

$75.5 million for 8 Mig-29's (retired 8 Mig-29s). Almost $10 million for each of those.

He also said that each MiG-29 needed to undergo preventive and restoration work which cost RM10mil ($2.9 million) and RM7mil ($2 million)for engine overhaul every year after it completes a flight time of between 1,000 hours and 4,000 hours.

Also, no other country has the Mig-29's of the Indian Navy. And neither are probably getting it. Russia is satisfied with its Su-33.

A L15 has maximum speed 1487 km/h. Yak130 maximum speed 1050 km/h. Manpad like FN6 maximum speed 2160 km/h. (Based on wiki)
So how the L15 will escape the superior speed of manpads? Also the air to air and surface to air missiles. Idiot should learn that there comes the protection in effect, such as flares and jammers.
Also when the Yak130 order was placed it was a reality and had many external operators, L15 was in copying stage and still in prototype and recently getting orders. So the newer versions of aircrafts will be superior to the older. Someone let this simple logic get through his head. 50 poisa soldier seem to be a paid agent installed here to do spam and troll on anything and everything on BD related matters by his political masters, whom are not even interested to buy f7. As if jamat bomb will solve anything like ISIS foot soldiers. Guess what jamat and ISIS both dont need air force :D

Are you replying to someone?

One assumes your proposition is that YAK is not really combat capable and you are saying BAF need not get involved in COIN operation in BD.

If that is the case I would agree. There is no scope for any insurgency in BD that I can conceive will require anything more that the army or even the BDR.

Political hyperbole is unnecessary.

Someone mentioned why BAF bought Yak130, not L15. Why bought Mig29 not Su30. My reply was regarding to that. Yak is capable of both COIN and to face medium external threats such as to destroy enemy ground installations-vehicles, lower displacement enemy ships, helicopter, small planes and UAVs. What Yaks are capable, watching the above video is advised.

But his point was Yak130 is slow it cant escape even a manpad missile. But his L15 is fast, which can escape manpads that answer he avoided. So I showed both L15 and Yak cant escape a manpad. Because a manpad has superior speed than both the planes. For that Yak has different protection such as flares and jammers which is also effective against AAM and SAM. Its nonsense to compare the two as one was a reality (Yak130) and other one prototype (L15). L15 had different scopes to improve itself when our order was placed based on Russian loan. Chinese one which can anyone see a copy of Yak130 can come up with different improvement. Though I dont believe in Chinese firepower superiority over Russian. Its like calling why I bought 3rd generation intel pc not waited for 4th generation to arrive and buy that in same price. Answer is I have requirements, If 3rd generation one can fulfill that I wont wait for 4th generation which will hamper my work.
