PM Nawaz invites Modi for upcoming SAARC summit again

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, the other day, said that Pakistan looks forward to hosting the 19th SARRC Summit in Islamabad on Nov 9-10 and help take the organisation forward.

Pakistan has formally invited heads of states and governments – including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi – for the upcoming South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc) summit.

“The prime minister of Pakistan has invited the leaders of Saarc Member States to grace the summit with their presence and is looking forward to welcoming them in Islamabad,” said a statement, issued by the foreign office on Friday.

The formal invitation was sent to the Indian prime minister as well as other Saarc countries at a time when tensions between Islamabad and New Delhi are running high over recent unrest in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) and Modi’s controversial statement on Balochistan.

Because of the worsening ties, Indian Finance Minister Arun Jaitley skipped the Saarc finance ministers’ meeting that concluded on Friday.

Although Pakistan formally invited India for the summit, it is not clear if Modi will travel to Islamabad for the key regional conference. Pakistan, at least, is giving the impression that the summit will go ahead as planned.

“The preparations for the successful holding of the summit in Islamabad are being made by Pakistan,” said Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakria.

The spokesperson said in order to give impetus to the process of preparations, Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry inaugurated a Saarc Summit Cell at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday.

The Saarc Summit Cell is headed by Ambassador Amjad Sial, who is a senior diplomat and nominee of the Government of Pakistan as Saarc’s next secretary general,

The cell will closely work with all stakeholders and authorities concerned in Pakistan. It will also liaise with the member states, Saarc observers and the Saarc Secretariat for an organisation of the summit.

Meanwhile, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Friday confirmed that India turned down its latest offer of talks on Kashmir.

I don't think Modi is going to go to Pakistan. Rajnath visit was to make way for Modi's visit. But with Rajnath visit resulting in a failure, there is very less chance of Modi visiting Pakistan. Moreover, there will also be the question of Modi's security. Modi must be the most hated figure right now in Pakistan.

Clearly surprised to see what kind of culture is prevailing in Pakistan to insult a visiting guest. A highly ill-cultured society.
But the same NS was layed out red-carpet when Modi came to power. But time and again Pakistanis have proved they do not understand preferential treatment but only deferential treatment.

Shame that you guys glorify such kind of an attitude....
With Modi realizing the type of snakes he is dealing with the going will get tough for Pakistan.

Arent you expecting too much, they dont respect there own PM, what makes you think they will respect Indian PM that to Modi.

One can have difference, but that should not make you fall down on your ethics. A PM represents a nation and when someone disgraces a PM he is disgracing his nation at large and himself also.

And as far as inviting Modi, its more of formal requirements, bigger problem for Pakistan is that if he accepts the invite, then how will they ensure full proof security and at the same time how will govt ensure that security mechanism doenst hamper the lifes of common man. More to add to is likes of hafeez saaed who will play media wars.

Modi will go if Pakistan leaves it's occupied Kashmir..
BTW everyone will have a thought before going to Pakistan..

Modi has no guts, Modi doesnot want another Rajnath Singh debacle....Wonder if Modi comes, make sure 10 toliets ready for him.

Nawaz is pakka harami.
Why 10 toilets?One isn't enough?
