PM Modi to ask Tajikistan for lease of ex-Soviet airbase

It has worked so far and a concentrated combined effort by Pakistan and China (may be Russia) will make sure that it does not happen in the future as well.

At least not as long as India keeps supporting terrorist proxies against us.
Yes and you will beg in front of Turkmenistan like a beggar that don't give them base please please please.
Don't worry we will get it. Let Dehati Aurat cry.

According to media reports, an Indian air force contingent, including Indian Mi-17 helicopters and leased Russian fighter jets, are currently deployed to the base under joint Indo-Tajik control.

We should consider bases in Sri Lanka too. Hembentota port was first offered to India and when we rejected it went to China. I do not know the strategic reasons behind that decision but I think a presense in SL will be overall a good thing.

India was already using an airbase in Tajikstan, was that also leased or a gift ?
Lease

What has not worked?

If Russia wants India will get the base if it does not want India will not get it. Pretty simple my friend.

You can't do anything about it. China yes sure can by influencing Russia

"It has worked so far".

This is what I wrote and yes it has worked so far. For the last thirteen years it has.

Now go figure, :-)

Do you really thinks he fears Russia or any other country.
LMAO. So India of all people wants to try the old Russian bear?? Don't make the bear angry.:taz:

On a serious note though, India is too dependent on Russia for now, to be able to go against Moscow head on. Think India needs more time to reduced its dependency on Russia, for now Russia has just too much leverage over India to be honest.:buba_phone:

When is that JF17 squadron moving to Burma, oh sorry wrong thread.

Is this the same Airbase we had earlier or is this the second one ?

India is already operating the Farkhor Airbase there. If I'm not mistaken, there's a squadron of Mig-29s there ?

Poor guy went overboard. Nobody is poking the Bear. Thing about leverage is it works both ways. Russians need money and credibility desperately at International Stage. The whole of US, EU and Japan are on an offensive against them.

Any political support from India along with cash will help then alot. India has cash for weapons and fairly scrupulous when it comes to not reverse-engineering, China would just copy those weapons and sell then to Pakistan and others. So Russia is always a little wary of China as it has cost it billions in lost sales.

As things stands now however both India and Russia are joined at the hip. Oh! Russia every now and then can remind India how much it holds them by the balls by teasing weapons to Pakistan but that's it.

Wow, I did not know about that. We can use the base in Burma to hit north east India.
what is the logic here
My dear friend, the Logic is that who so ever buys JF-17 will surrender their Nation's sovereignty to Pakistan / China.
Any country buying JF-17 will have to share its air bases with Pakistan which it will use against India. Btw this clause has not been brought to the Myanmar knowledge so far or at least not made public.
