Duty free cement benefits Indian consumers who get is for cheaper price...who else is going to provide cement to India? there is no country nearby which has excess cement production capacity for export...India is going suicidal over its obsession with Pak...one stupid news after another....and until now Uri attack investigation has not been concluded...

Naa, we can take help from local producers. Better Indian consumers buy from Indian producers. India tried really hard to be Paks friend, Modi really wanted to do something with SAARC, but every time Pak decided in being an obstacle. I honestly don't think the current govt. is in any position for good will. Someone in Pakistan's deep state has ruined any Indo-Pak relationship for a long long time...

SHould have been done a long time ago. Good Step.
People are asking India to walk the talk, so good small steps in isolating Pakistan.
India should also declare a terrorist state as well, anyone supporting this state should be dealt with accordingly. If any country dealing with India wants Indian business should stop business with pakistan. I know this would be challenging for India to do, but try to implement as much it can be done. slowly and slowly turning off the taps for pakistan to mend its way of not harboring terrorist ambition and get out of the India centric phobia.

If you push that duty free argument further, why have any custom duties or indeed any restrictions on import?

We may have Indian manufacturers ramp up capacity, where will Pakistani cement manufacturers get an equivalent market?

Let us not get carried away, We need pakistani cheap cement to build our Highways and Infrastructure.

In absence of that, Indian cement manufacturers will form cartels to blackmail GoI into paying High prices. It has happened in the past and will happen again.


All actions we take needs to first BENEFIT India and THEN harm pakistan. Let us not cut the nose to spite the face.

Wrong, Pakistan will understand the difference only when MFN status is taken back. It will be a great blow to Pakistani exports, which is very well below 3% to India. But given the current rate of overall exports by Pakistan, this Indian move won't be good if not hurt much for Pakistan.

Your country men answered it better...production of cement does not run on emotions..it runs on availability of raw materials for different kind of cements...we beg India to suspend the IMPORT of Pakistani cement because it will break the domestic shortages and bring prices down...Pakistan is going through a development phase so we need all the cement we can get for building power plants, metro, railways, dams etc in efficient cost...infact duty free import of Pakistani cement by India is a weapon working against our local economic goals..once again..WE BEG INDIA TO SUSPEND DUTY FREE IMPORT OF PAKISTANI CEMENT...
