PM HOUSE TO BE MADE POSTGRADUATE INSTITUTE, SAYS EDUCATION MINISTER

ISLAMABAD: On Thursday, Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood the land on which Prime Minister House is presently situated will be made into a postgraduate institute, said Minister for Education Shafqat Mehmood while speaking about the incumbent government’s plans to utilise official buildings for public use.

Addressing the media in Islamabad on Thursday, the education minister said the public was fed up of the previous governments’ “royal” ways of living.

It is important that government officials live in a way that does not waste public money, he said.

“Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided that he will not stay in the PM House and governors will not stay in Governor House to cut down on costs,” he added.

According to the education minister, the annual expenditure of PM House was Rs470 million.

They should be. I am all for big houses and offices for PM and President but 135 Acres is an insult to poor if this country. In my opinion PM House and Office should be combined and should not be bigger than 20 Canals. Same goes for President

selling governor house will give enough money to make two universities outside the city (that is where universities should be) not in the middle of busy city traffic on the most expensive piece of land.

Why ? Is there any shortage of land ? PM house is property of state. What happens if next prime minister decides to stay in this house again ?
