what beautiful pics!

in rural China many more expressways need building

Building expressway in Shanghai and Guangzhou is a piece of cake. Building expressway in Central China and Western China is much more difficult.

A controlled-access highway is a type of highway which has been designed for high-speed vehicular traffic, with all traffic flow and ingress/egress regulated.
Entrances and connection of two expressways are strictly controlled. If not, safety and high-speed cannot be guaranteed. Although yesterday I spent half an hour in the expressway traffic jam, for the whole 200km journey(80% on G3 expressway) it took only 2.5 hours and 0.5 hour of waste time in congestion.

China is home to most of the highest expressway bridges in the world. Building them in Western China and Central China is really marvellous.
Salute to those engineers and workers!

I am now stuck on G3 national expressway, in a coach from Buddhist Jiuhua Mountain to the provincial capital of Anhui Province in Central China. Hungry, thirsty, tired after climbing mountains for two days, I may have to spend several hours here, fifty kilometers from my destination.

Building infrastructure is not merely for today's need. And now this 2000-km main artery(Beijing to Fuzhou) cannot even handle today's Friday travel rush, how to cope with ten years later?

The formal nomenclature of "provincial highway" in your pic is "Unclassified Highway" (等级外公路). In China, highways are constructed based on legislation JTG-B01-2003 ("Technical Standard on Highway Construction" or "公路工程技术标准"). Except for the highest grade of control-access highways, i.e. Expressways, others are classified into 5 levels.

Expressways are Controlled-Access highway, the highest-grade type of highway with access ramps, lane dividers, etc., designed for high-speed vehicular traffic, with all traffic flow and ingress/egress regulated. By 2015, quantity of Expressways (高速公路) is 111,950 km

The quantities of Highways are as below:
Level 1 Highway (一级公路) 74,300 km
Level 2 Highway (二级公路) 331,500 km
Level 3 Highway (三级公路) 401,900 km
Level 4 Highway (四级公路) 2,705,800 km
Unclassified Highway (等级外公路) 627,900 km
Total Highways 4,141,400 km

For India, according "Annual report 2010-2011", Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, retrieved 2014-Octoberber-05, total road network is 48.85 lakh km (4.885 million km), consisting of national highways, expressways, state highways, major district roads, other district roads and village roads):

Expressways 1,208 km
National Highways & Expressways 92,851 km; State Highways 142,687 km; Total Highways & Expressways 235,538 km

The mileage of India's highway and expressway is only equivalent to 5.5% and 1% of China respectively. :o:
Roads are like arteries of human body. No artery, no oxygen. I think one of the priorities of Modi administration is to build more and more standard paved roads, laying the foundation of industrialisation and urbanisation.
