Yes. Over-whelming majority of Muslims follow Islam. Actually, according to various surveys done by Gallop, PEW, and CNN etc, Muslims are THE most practicing religious group amongst all other groups globally. Same holds true for West.

MSA (Muslim Student Association) at my university is like the third largest student organization on campus. And my university is not some random institute. It is one of the most prestigious school in the U.S. Ranks in top ten public universities of the United States.

I live with three roomates.

One Atheist (Christian background), one Jewish (with family in Israel ) and one Vietnamese-American with his own religious tradition...and then me (A Muslim).

We all get along mighty fine and even poke jokes at each other all the time. Our house is STOCKED with Alcohol..but I don't have any problem with that.

During Friday prayers, our university mosque is PACKED as ****. One time, I had to pray on outside in the area where people have their shoes taken off before entering the mosque..lol

Moreover, it doesn't matter if a Muslim is really practicing or not. Islam is not only a religion, it is a civilizational/cultural force in itself. Even Muslims who don't practice Islam that much identify with it and other Muslims rigorously.

Moreover, even many ex-Muslims with Islamic background will stand up and DEFEND "their peoples" ...Muslims are kinda like Jews...Muslims are an 'Islamic people'...We feel for each other even if we aren't religious at all!
