GOLF class submarines were diesel electric ballistic missile submarines of the Soviet Navy

PLAN never had Golf Class Submarine(s) to begin with.

Soviets sold blue prints of GOLF Class subs to PLAN which made only one submarine (heavily modified) out of it which is not identified as Golf Class Submarine.

It is only serving as a missile testing platform, an old submarine

As a testing platform for new missiles it seldom go out to sea, and it is not on patrol duty. It is still in service since its launch in 1960s because there is still many years of life left for its hull.

It is rumour that it got an excellent award from the Chinese President recently for its role in successfully testing JL2 missile.
