PLAAF Su-30MKK Spotted in Russia – for upgrades

PLAAF Maintains 350 J-7 jets (F-7) & 200 J-8 jets.

Both old J-7 & J-8 useless against modern jets.

PLAAF not satisfied with the delays of Shenyang Aircraft Corporation, So Su-30MKK\Su-30MK2 expected to get Russian upgrade package.

We can expect some deals with Russia in the future.

First of all, according to FAS, the J-8 performs better than the F-16C, F/A-18, and Mirage 2000.

Second of all, there are no delays in SAC. Their J-16 project and J-15 projects are right on schedule.

Third of all, there will be no major purchases from Russia. China's indigenous equipment is on par or superior.

Probably cheaper to upgrade an MKK than to build a new J-11B

But much less effective.

J-11B is slated for AESA radar and it is 8 times stealthier than the average Flanker. It also happens to be more versatile and its maneuverability is very high. J-11B's performance rivals that of the Su-35BM or even MiG-35 while Su-30MKK's performance is close to Rafale and F-15E.

Why do we need these when we have the much more capable J-11B?

:hitwall::hitwall::hitwall::hitwall::hitwall::hitwall:

J-11B is more of an Air superiority fighter while the Su-30MK2(3) is tailored towards ground attack. I don't think the comparison is fair.

J-11B is a heavy fighter much like the Su-30MKK.

The Su-30MKK to J-11B is like F/A-18E/F to F-15E.

J-11B has much superior avionics and stealth reduction, and maneuverability as well.

Since the SU-30MKKs are already in PLAAF inventory, might as well upgrade when their mid-lives are due, and also it is probably cheaper to upgrade in Russia since there is no economy of scale due to their small number. And you got some new upgraded Russian avionics to check up against latest Chinese avionics to gauge their performance.

Or we can divert the money towards J-11B production.

Exactly. Why buy more Su-30MKKs when our self-developed J-11Bs are already rivaling the Su-35BM?

You're not buying more MKKs, just upgrading existing ones.

Regardless of whether or not new J-11Bs are built, you still need to decide what to do with existing MKKs.
You can either scrap them (which would be a waste of money considering they're still useful), or leave them as they are (but less effective at dealing with modern threats), or you can upgrade them (better able to deal with modern threats) for the fraction of the cost of a new plane.

They are capable on Paper only.

why dont u mind ur decades old design t-50 fisrt, with Su-27 style buble IRST, americans tech like radar blocker, plasma stealth that russian claim to have, then worry about ours?
